having trouble figuring out developer points.

I was just told by a CM that I have 171 developer points left & they will expire Oct 3,2009. He said I can not bank these they have to be used, is that correct? If so can I rent/give these out to someone else? I already have a trip planned for Oct 18th & he indicated I had to stay before the date they expired. Seems like such a waste. My family & I are going at AKL (home resort) 6/14/09, tried to switch out to Saratoga Springs but nothing was available. Can I just give them to my brother & do I or he make the reservations? So Confused, I really don't want these to be wasted. Still new at all this so any advise would be nice. This is at Disney World SSR.

Are they the ones for use at SSR or the Disneyland resort hotels? If so, any chance for a little trip out to Disneyland?

If you let your brother use them yes you would need to make the reservation etc. Even if he's a member, I don't think the developer's points can be transferred, so you have to control the reservation. Would be very nice of you to give them to him!

And yes people have said you can rent them out...but it seems a bit of relatively short notice to become an expert on renting out points (or specifically renting a reservation made with the points), if you know what I mean? I feel like I'd need a year of study to think of actually renting (vs letting a family use a reservation made with them).

I had 98 developer points left and I had to use them before 0ct 3 also and what I did was deposit them into RCI.
This way you have until dec 2011 to book and travel on a RCI trip.

Yes you should be able to do this through MS with no problem.
I just did that this past week.
