Having to re register, getting posts back

Hi, I can'f figure out what happened. I tried to login under my user name from the old discussion forum into the new forum and it kept giving me invalid user name error. After many frustrated attempts I re registered but did not find a place for my display name. So when I reregistered I just used my display name. I have also lost all of my posts, am I able to get them back? Please help
