I had to cancel our trip for this week since DH was sick he slept 36 hrs and and is just now starting to move around

this was to be our first time as members staying at BLT so Im doing some checking to see when we could change too

not much is open this close were thinking of 3-27 to 4-3

first how is this time to visit in terms of weather and crowds hopeing since easter is later this yr were far enough away from spring break

also are any other options if I would call and talk to a MS

like is there a reserve of rooms that could be used for members or cash

this really got me upset since we had the perfect vacation planned and then he gets sick--Im not blaming him of course but this isnt the first time this has happened

I actually told him that I wanted to sell the DVC and just do nothing

so any advice on the resort itself time of yr and anything else that would help get this trip going again

thanks for any advice you can share

Not really. There is a slim chance that there is breakage inventory (inventory inside 60 days) not showing in the booking tool, but generally it's not withdrawn from there entirely.

DVC don't "hold" aside inventory for last-minute bookings.

I am sorry that your perfect vacation had to be cancelled. Can you look at a different resort? What about room size? That might open up availability.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately SSR is the only one with any type of openings. It's just hubby and me so we just need a small place

But SSR has units available for your dates -- even a studio. You have no grounds at this point for whining and complaining but should be thinking creatively. As suggested above, widen your search to other resorts and other unit types. Consider piecing together a split stay -- lots of the properties had 'partial availability' of 1 or 2 nights. Consider making this a grand adventure visiting multiple DVC properties.

While split stays aren't my cup of tea -- some here truly enjoy them. They can be especially fun for new owners as they provide experiences as multiple locations within one trip.

FWIW, you aren't guaranteed a studio stay just because you have few points. Sometimes you will have to make a choice: skip the vacation > bank the points or, perhaps, book the 1BR for fewer nights. It happens.

As for selling DVC, were you referring to renting out this years points (converting them to cash), doing nothing for vacation this year and then having better choices for next year? Or were you really suggesting cutting your nose to spite your face by truly selling the new-to-you DVC? I'd expect your take a loss on that transaction unless you are fortunate.

Sorry your plans changed -- but you really must think in more flexible terms when booking DVC.

When booking inside of 60 days -- heck, inside 7 months many seasons -- you need to flexible with unit size and unit location.

You're unlikely to get a monorail studio for any length of time inside of 3 months, any time of year.

Hi, we have that week picked for our Flower and Garden trip. There will be concerts at Epcot, Fri through Mon when you are there, and in the past, I have enjoyed workshops or garden talks. The schedule for F& G isn't out yet. We have BWV/AKV split stay and I booked it 11 months out, the AKV is concierge level.

Enjoy your stay if you decide to go!

bwv bound I'm not whining just want to know what to expect. And changing rooms every night or every other night doesn't sound like fun. Our when vacation would be packing and moving. But thanks

One can never predict the weather but it ought to be quite decent. Crowds - well, it's hard to find a slow time now but it shouldn't be any worse than many other times of the year. Disney is doing a very good job of filling the parks up at all times of the year.

There is no hidden inventory so you'll just have to look online or call in. For resorts - as you are trying to replace a stay very last minute you'll just have to go with what is available. If SSR were open I wouldn't hesitate in booking it - it's a very nice resort and has easy access to all the restaurants and entertainment at DS. Also, it's very centrally located at WDW so nothing is very far away. As mentioned you could also do a split stay and try a couple different resorts. We do them fairly frequently and as long as you plan to just be out doing something somewhere between the time you check out of one place and at least 4PM then it's not bad and can almost feel like a brand new vacation. Bell Services will move your luggage from one resort to the other.

You also can book some place and then waitlist something else. No guarantees it'll come thru but no harm in trying. It also doesn't hurt to keep checking periodically online to see if something else has opened up. People do cancel just like you had to.

Also, you have many years to go with DVC so I wouldn't worry about not getting the "perfect" vacation. Often those are the one's that don't work out at all and the unexpected one's lead you to discover things you like that you never thought you would.

I'd book the SSR studios and waitlist to get in the same category for the entire stay. Moving within the same resort is pretty easy should the waitlist not come thru. Then with your second waitlist pick a resort to waitlist that has a decent possibility of coming thru that you'd like to try - AKV or you could even try BLT LV since you originally planned on that resort. Pretty unlikely but again, if you don't try it's definitely not going to happen.

When I checked the SSR Studio was open for her entire stay as a single, easy-breezy reservation.

I glanced too but while there were studios there for all the nights it wasn't all in the same category. Shows how inventory changes.

No, not really.

DH always gets a migraine, gets sick, or hurts a body part before or at the beginning of a vacation. It is what it is. We go anyway. (which is what I was telling you as you were making the decision to cancel...I would have put a face mask on him and we would have gone...being sick at Disney is a bit better than being sick at home because at least you aren't looking at your same boring old 4 walls)

Do you REALLY want to sell DVC and literally do nothing?

You could even have gone on your own, though for your first trip that might have been rude.

On the other hand, since he's better with 1.5 days of rest, you could have gone and he could be getting on a plane today and joining you.

I've started having DH take one day off BEFORE we travel, so he can get that nonsense over with before heading to the airport.

SSR is awesome! And I'm sure (unless you live in Manhattan, Seoul, or Tokyo) you have a house or an apartment or condo that isn't just one little room plus a bathroom. If you have the points, do a larger place if that's what is available. It's fun! Book *whatever*. Go. Have fun.

We bought in 2009, we own at Bay Lake, and DH has STILL never been there, and we have no bookings for him to visit there. I've stayed there and will be staying there in 3 weeks, but not poor DH. And yet he still lives. :)

Our when vacation would be packing and moving.

I've done a 4-resort visit *inside of ONE week*, while also sick as a dog and dealing with a kid who got sick 2 full days after it hit me, and doing the marathon weekend, and I can tell you from absolute experience that my vacation was NOT spent packing and moving. Most of it was spent running, whining, and sleeping. The packing and moving took, like, an hour on moving days. Which means 23 blissful hours per move-day of running, whining, and sleeping LOL.

Lol bumber - my DH was on a roll for awhile of blowing out his meniscus just before our trips. Twice! Then having surgery just before. Then feeling weird sometimes. I just dragged him along too. There wasn't any complaining afterwards that he shouldn't have gone. And if not, off I would have headed.

I like this idea. It would be an adventure. Since it's just the two of you, picking up and moving a few times wouldn't be a big deal.
