Hi everyone...
Well my fiance wasn't able to get the time off he requested for his vacation, one of his co-workers was just diagnosed with breast cancer and so they are very short staffed and they flat out told him no he couldnt' have the time he requested off. I'm just not up to taking a trip by myself, and though I have friends that have offered to go with me I am just too upset about him not being able to go, afterall this tirp was suppose to be our honeymoon. :sad2:

We have a package, which we had already paid for in full. So I guess we'll just lose all of that money?

Can anyone let me know our options?
THanks,
Ashley

If you had trip insurance you may be able to get some of yoru money back, but if not I don't think you'll get any of it back, sorry.

I'm so sorry you're going to miss your trip also.

I have my package confirmation in my hand under cancellation and change fees it states:

"For a cancellations made 5 days or less prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers."

Call WDTC right away & find out what can be done.

Was this timeoff approved before hand when the reservations were made and paid for? If so, I would let his company know that based on their prior approval he made plans, and made payments that he will now forfit. He should let them know he has no problem working but he will submit via an expense report reinbursement for the money he lost via this change in plans.

If the vacation was not approved prior and you just made the plans if you don't have insurance, you're probably out of luck.

Call immediately. I thought if you cancel within 5 days you have a $200 penalty.

Now the airline portion of your package is another matter.

I agree with Mary Ann. It's reasonable to expect your employer to pay your cancellation fees.

When I booked I went over this with the CM who was trying her best to sell me trip insurance. She told me Trip insurance was 100. And cancelling 45-6 days prior would be $100, 5 days-0 days $200.

Would it be too much of a coincidence for him to come down with the flu that week?

If your last answer is that you would lose all your money, I would take a friend and go. If you're flying there will still be an issue with that.

I hope you are kidding. It wouldn't be too hard to figure that one out. :rotfl:

Can you just change your dates? If you do that, you may be able to modify the ressie and not lose anything. We did this last fall, but there was a hurricane coming, so that made a difference.

Your best bet would be to call Disney and ask what your options are.

Good luck!

Disney is usually is very good about things like this. Call CRO and tell them what you posted here and that it was to be your honeymoon and how disappointed you are. See if they will let you transfer your reservations to a later date. Let us know how you make out. I am sending pixie dust your way. :wizard:

I just thought I'd let everyone know that we were able to get our trip moved to December without any penalty fees. My travel agent is great, and made the call to Disney to get everything moved, and she cancelled all my PS and the Illuminations cruise we had planned. I'm still kind of upset that I should be at Disney RIGHT NOW .... but there's not much I can do about that.

:cheer2: That is great. :cheer2:

You now have more time to save up extra spending money to buy something special and 7 months more to dream and plan.

I'm so excited for you and hubby. Have a wonderful trip.

I know my company (a Fortune 500) has a clause in the employee handbook that you may be required to cancel a scheduled vacation based on company needs. In reality, it would have to be pretty extreme for that to happen but they have that option. Would be interesting to see what would happen if someone tried to expense it.

Ashley - glad to hear it worked out! December is a great time to go with all the Christmas activities and decorations! Congratulations on your marriage!

You will not lose all of your money, unless you are a no-show.

If you cancel 45 days before arrival, you get all of your money back.

If you cancel between 45 days and 6 days before arrival, you get all of your money minus $100 back.

If you cancel between 5 days and the arrival date, you get all of your money minus $200 back.

Of course, as someone said, airfare is another story, and trip insurance may affect this too.

Ashley- I have seen some of your post on the wedding thread.....wishing you pixie dust and much happiness...and the BEST trip ever!!!! :grouphug:

I'm sorry that you have to postpone your trip. It's not like you're not going at all... it's just you're going later. This will give you time to save more money and will give you plenty of time to plan. Remember planning is just half the fun.

Don't feel bad. I think it's good that your husband can step in for someone who is very sick (cancer). Someone who really need time off to get better. I am sure if your husband had that cancer and needed treatment, I am sure someone would also step in for him so he can take time off so your husband can get better. I just hope that the person get well and no relapse so you and your husband is guaranteed to go in Dec.

EDIT TO ADD: Wait a minute... if it's your wedding and you're going on your honeymoon and your date is already set.. Can they make you postpone your wedding/honeymoon?

Before you know it Dec will be here. Again... I'm sorry that you have to chance your date. I guess you will now be a winter bride! I was a winter bride.. we got married in Dec. And...yes.. we had our honeymoon in WDW and it was awesome!! All those Christmas decorations and the music... It was fabulous!! You will love WDW in December!! :)
