Having second thoughts...

I am leaving for my girls-only-big-birthday weekend in a little over a month, and I am having second thoughts about our resort. I was able to book the Contemporary, Tower room MK view. We originally had a group of four adults going, and one of my friends has backed out. While we saved over $100 a night with the AP discount, it's still not cheap...;) Normally, I am a bit of a tightwad, but I have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary ever since I was a little girl and going when I am able to share the cost with two others may be my only chance.

For those of you who have stayed there, is it really worth it?? I am afraid I will be dissappointed after all this time, and regret the big splurge. I keep telling myself that I can wait and change resorts closer to the time of the trip if I need to. I guess I am just looking for some reaffirmation :lmao:

I have to say, for us it was worth every penny. The rooms were wonderful, and the beds were great. I stay in hotels quite often for work, and these were the most comfortable beds I have had at a hotel in a very long time.

The walk to the MK was so nice. It took less than 10 minutes and of course it was so warm out so we wanted to take the weather in. But the monorail is great too. At the end of the day, it is the first stop on the monorail from the MK.

The tempo grab and go was very convenient, and soon there will be Chef Mickey's express which should be great. The California Grill is supposed to be a fabulous restaurant (no availability for us), and Chef Mickey's is fun. The Outer Rim lounge was nice to have a drink at. It is in the open so you can grab a table and its not weird to have children by you, because its not like your in a seperate bar.

We loved it so much that we booked it again for Feb next year. We just went Feb 6-10 a few weeks ago.

HTH!

For us, it is definitely worth it. CR is my favorite resort, and I always try to go visit when I am there, even if its to walk around the atrium and gift shop. Its your birthday weekend, you only live once, and especially since you have wanted to do this since you were a kid, I say go for it and dont look back. As soon as you see the view from that room, you'll forget all about the price, believe me:)

Definitely call and modify your reservation, as you would have been quoted with an extra adult over 2 adults fee added into your price, so you'll save at least that $$.

But anyways, trying to book somewhere else may be extremely difficult. Disney World resorts could possibly be close to sold out for your dates. Don't cancel the Contemporary unless you can confirm something else you want is available.

The Magic Kingdom view at the Contemporary is the best possible view in all of WDW, so I would say to keep it because once you arrive there and look outside you will see that you made the right decision.

I totally agree! I have dreamed about staying at the contemporary my whole life, and I'm finally going to get to do it this Oct! We also booked a MK view tower room and I can't wait! I'm too excited to sleep!!! :lmao:

If you got a good rate, stick with it...especially if that view is a dream of yours =)

Let me ask you this, Since you always wanted to stay there. A week, a month, a year from now, will you ever look back and regret your decision if you dont? You have the opportunity now, will it ever come up again? I would hate for you to have a great time in the parks only to get home, second guess yourself and dwell on whether you woulda , shoulda. Worst case senario(other than the cost), if you are disappointed, atleast you know for next time and you wont have to go through life asking yourself, What if?

You never said exactly who's birthday, but, HAPPY BIRTHDAY anyway!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your responses. As much as the logical side of my head wants to argue the splurge, I know I would probably regret it if we cancel. In the long run, the money won't really be missed, and the memories will be there forever. I need to learn that I am worth it, and treat myself more often. AND, thanks to Disney Visa, I have 6 months to pay for it anyway!!!
