I already made our PS for dinner at Chef Mickeys, but I have read some posts where people weren't happy with their meal. With 6 of us, and only 2 paying the childs rate, this is quite an expensive meal! I'd love to hear your opinions! Yay or nay?

Haven't eaten there, but I've heard alot of good things. You can go to wdwinfo.com and at the top there is a link for ratings/reviews. Under that is one for meals, then character meals, etc. Follow those until you get to list of character meals, and read all about it!

Not sure if you are concerned about breakfast or dinner but we just had dinner there over Memorial Day weekend and it was great as usual.

It's not gourmet food, but it isn't bad. We eat breakfast or dinner there each trip. The kids with you will love it.

I think you should try it for yourself and form your own opinion.

There have been several times Ive disliked restaurants and people post that they love them and times Ive liked places and others had a bad meal there.
Everybody has their own tastes so I think you should give Chef Mickeys a try.

Exactly! ::yes:: It is not worth the money if you are going for the food alone IMO. That being said, the prime rib and cheese mashed potatoes are always wonderful! We go because we have a 21 month old and a 10 year old - it is worth it to us to see their faces light up and the excitement of seeing the characters::yes::

We have probably done Chef Mickey about 6 times (between breakfast & dinner) the food is good (not great) but it is fun and my DS has loved this since he was 1. A trip doesnt seem complete unless we stop at Chef Mickey!

Enjoy your trip!

Another positive vote for Chef Mickey's at dinner.....the buffet offerings are varied/delicious and the character interaction very good (not rushed at all). We go every time we are at WDW and have never been disappointed :D

We have tried dinner at CM's and because ds requested a return to the place (obviously he thoroughly enjoyed it!) we are heading there for a breakfast in July.

I think that every restaurant/meal has it's fans as well as those who will "never" return! It is hard to say what your reaction will be. As others said - it is not fine dining, but it is a good meal (at least the dinner was) with the characters! We felt it was a magical way to start a vacation! So, I vote YAY!

Mine is a positive vote for Chef Mickeys. Did it twice for breakfast this past year and, yea, the food is average but the atomosphere was fun. DH and I go and we dont have children (yet) and enjoyed this one very much. I liked being able to see the classic Disney characters--Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc...

The characters were very interactive with everyone (young and old) and made it a very pleasurable experience.

Go, enjoy it, and have fun!

p.s. for breakfast make sure to try the peanut butter and jelly pizza! Yummy!

In my opinion the food is just okay (had dinner), but the characters are wonderful. My DS said it was his favorite restaurant of the trip. Both of my kids also love riding the monorail to get there. One final note, it is wonderful not having to worry about looking for the most popular characters in the parks. You'll save some standing in line time!

Chef Mickey's is our first night tradition. We couldn't go to WDW without eating dinner there. The food is OK...it's not the best, but it's good, varied and plentiful. The desserts are really good. What we like best about Chef Mickey's is the atmosphere. There is just "something" about it...it puts us in that Disney spirit and the characters are great!!! The interaction is always really good!

Give it a try...only you can form your own opinion. If you don't like it, you don't have to go back again!;)

If you've never been to Chef Mickey's, I would definitely give it a try.
We've been twice, and have decided to skip it on this next trip.No particular reason though, other than we wanted to try some new and different restaurants this time around.
Now, if CMickey's served lunch, we would definitely have a time slot to fit it in ::yes::

We have made trips to WDw four times over the last 10 years. We ate at Chef Mickey for breakfast in 1996, 2000, and 2004. It is fun because of the characters and the lively festivities. The food is a little better than average, but barely. Some things have been really good and some things (greasy bacon half cooked in a tangled bunch and blaah egg dishes) have not been so good, but then you can leave thing you like on your plate and go back for something else, so all in all, I would go again. If you are with children, then definitely go. If you are only adults looking for a gourmet breakfast, then move on.

Certainly not "Breakfast as Brennans" but for $17 what do you expect anyway?

Go and have fun. I would comment that lunch at the Crystal Palace to our taste was far superior, but we have never tried the Crystal Palace breakfast because we didn't want to give up enjoying their lunch and we wanted a variety of characters.

I don't think you will return home disappointed if you go to Che Mickeys for breakfast.

When we traveled to WDW with another family, I made ps's for dinner at CM's. The other adults have somewhat trendy tastes in food. They love CG!! So, I was a little nervous as to how they would feel about CM's. Well, they loved it!! Said that if they had known how much they would like it, they would have booked it for their first trip, several years before. My dh loves both the meals there. It is a family tradition for us to eat our first meal at CM's. Is it loud, crazy and somewhat frantic? Oh yeah. But, that's part of the fun. And oohhh, those mashed potatoes.

While I do not believe the food at Chef Mickey's is as good as the other buffets' (particularly Cape May Cafe), I think it is a good restaurant b/c it truly gives you the Disney "feel." It is a really fun experience if you have children with you-- I know I still fondly remember going there and seeing the characters while the monorail glided by. It is definitely a restaurant I think everyone should experience once, although I do not go there expecting the best food.

We love Chef Mickey's. In fact, this may be our first trip not eating there and I'm not sure about that! I might have to squeeze it in somewhere!

On the flipside, we can't stand Crystal Palace and always see people rave over it. We have had 2 really bad experiences there and 2 is too many when there are so many other great spots to eat.

You need to try it to decide for yourself! :)

another vote for we love Chef Mickey's Breakfast or Dinner.. Matter of fact its tradition to eat there on Arrival day for dinner then another day for Breakfast -- like others have said the Food isn't the best by far (NOT bad either) but the place is just soo fun and the Character interaction is wonderful.. give it a try -- Michelle

I also vote that you try Chef Mickey's and form your own opinion. It is our first night restaurant of choice for the last three years. This year we are waiting until evening three because that is when my brother-in-law and parents join me, my sis and her kids (twins, boy, girl age 6). And because my Mom asked us to wait because she wants to go with us. Food is good, desserts are better and characters are great! Have fun!
