I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to get a reasonable car rental rate for WDW trip 10/10-10/14. I have used coupon codes from BJ's, Chase Visa, Mastercard, Fodors, and various other coupns floating around. A midsize from Avis for $229 including fees? Dollar and Budget for $189?. I have read fairly recent posts of weekly rentals of less than $100. Am I looking at the wrong cars or wrong agencies? I'm starting to sound whiney I know. We will be arriving late, after 10 PM so I thought an airport site would be better. Any advice for whiney me? Thanks for reading.

First off $189 a week is not a bad price. Second, discounts tend to get better the closer you get to a date. Best way is to book to assure you have a car (as long as you book with the ability to cancel without penalty, which most allow up until just before the trip), then keep checking on a regular basis for better prices.

have you tried national? there is the discount from the buena vista online code and then if you are a DC member they also have a coupon or even the entertainment book has a coupon to use. have you tried any of that?

Hi -

I went to national's website and using a compact car and the internet coupon (available from mousesavers.com) I got a rate of $160 including all fees and taxes. Your trip is only for a few days and you do save more money if you stay for a week, the weekly rates are lower per day than a daily rate, which your dates indicate. If you joined the DC you could save approx $30 more which would pay for the membership.
