Hi! :wave2:
I don't know if this concept has been posted before, but I had a great idea about 2 weeks before my trip to Disney last month . . .

One of my biggest beefs :furious: is that there is so much wonderful Internet shopping online but shipping to Canada is either very expensive or non-existent. A couple of weeks before my trip, I went on a little shopping spree and had my packages delivered to my Disney Resort so that the orders were waiting for me when I arrived (or arrived during my stay). The shipping was minimal (or sometimes free) and I was a very happy camper. :woohoo: I ordered a bunch of "souveniers" from the Disney Store, a bra that is very expensive here in Canada, and even some Crocs!!

I only wish I had thought of it sooner so I could have shopped more since you do need to pay attention to the delivery time to make sure you'll be there to take the package home with you.

I hope this helps someone!! I know I will definitely do this again next time I go away somewhere in the US.

I did this when we went to Disney in February. It was great! It really ticks :badpc: me off too that there are so FEW web-sites that will ship to us Canadians!

Hey - never thought of that!

So if I'm ordering off the Disney site how far in advance do you order to have it there when you arrive??

hmmmm

I did a little of this on our trip last month--I was looking for a special book, which was $7.50 US and $13 CAD through the Cdn distributor. But the Cdn dist. had a min $10 shipping fee--eek! The American dist. was able to get it to me for $13.50US. On something like Amazon or LLBean, it'd be even better. (Oh, and all those ebay sellers who don't want to worry about international shipping!)

Also you have such a high duty-free limit (for a family of 4, it's $3000 for a week now!), and if you carry it with you, it's part of your allowance; if it's shipped transborder from the seller, you pay the duty We shopped hard and only spent about $1700 Cdn of our $3000 duty-free limit; I could've bought our whole wardrobe and brought it back. I remember the days of $200 d-f for a whole week in the US when we were trying to make the shoes look scuffed and the shirts wrinkled before we crossed the border...

This is SOOOOO true!!!

I remember many times going to the states with my parents wearing our oldest pair of shoes so we could buy a new pair to wear home!!!

Great idea! Where do you pick up your stuff? At the front desk? Do they deliver it to your room? How do you know your stuff has arrived?

Thanks in advance,
Louise

The package is held at the front desk, and you will receive a call to your room that there is a package for you.

You can look on the disneyshopping.com website for shipping details and it will tell you how long it takes...I think up to 8 business days for standard? I just shopped about 2 weeks before and had it shipped, in the name field I put my name and "arriving xx/xx/06" so that whoever receives it knows when we are coming. They usually put a note in the computer so that it will pop up when you check in that there is a package waiting for you. It is stored in the luggage room, so once you check in they will actually bring it up to your room for you.

I guess it depends on how long you are staying...if you are there for a week, you can be a little less concerned about the timing because you have a little leeway. When we went we were only there for 2 nights, so it needed to be there before we arrived as we were landing on a weekend and I wanted to make sure we got it before we left.

Just seconding this. We actually had two deliveries, one commercial, one from an American friend, arrive for us at the Poly in May. We got a call the first evening we were there, and they were delivered to our room. Don't know if they were waiting when we checked in; it was several hours after we checked in that they showed up, and I didn't think to ask if it had been waiting for us or had just arrived.

I'll definitely be shopping prior to my next trip. I've been wanting to buy this cute double stroller but shipping to Canada just kills the deal. In addition to the disney site (which has insane shipping!), I'll probably shop at target too.
