having doubts about my CR stay...

I am going on a trip in 11 days with my sister. We have the Contemporary Tower booked currently, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about it. The location is great, since we're going to be eating at V&A's, Cali Grill, Chef Mickey's and Kona, but the recent pipe burst, along with reports of general disrepair at the resort, have got me worried.
I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary since I was young, and my sister is okay with it. My boyfriend, who is not coming on this trip, and with whom I usually travel, wants nothing to do with the Contemporary, so this would be a good time to try it out. My sis really wants to stay at the Boardwalk, but I'm staying there when I go in October.
I was debating Yacht or Beach Club (I've stayed at the BC several times and do enjoy it). Usually, this would be great for us because we like to spend a lot of our time in Epcot, but since we have all of the PS's at the Monorail resorts, I thought that may be a hassle (although we will have a car).
So as you can see, I'm driving myself nuts deliberating. Any opinions, suggestions, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated!

I've generally found that people either love the Contemporary or hate it. There's no in between. I myself love the Contemporary. In my humble opinion, if you've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary and love the look and feel of it then you'll enjoy it and have a great stay. But on the other hand, if you don't care for the look of the resort and have doubts about whether you'll like it then it's probably not for you. Again, that's just my opinion.

I've stayed at the Contemporary 5 times now and each time the resort has been in great shape. I've never had any problems with my room. And while I was in the common areas I've looked very hard to find the problems that people mention on the message boards and I never seem to notice the same thing they do. For instance, one person mentioned that the tower has an odd smell when they get off of the monorail. The only thing I've ever noticed was the smell of fresh waffles drifting up from Chef Mickey's. Another person mentioned that the public bathrooms on the concourse were old and worn. I went into the public bathrooms and couldn't find any wear anywhere.

I say go with an open mind. Stay at the Contemporary and form your own opinion.

We are also bookes to stay in the tower Sept 19-26th and we can not wait.We've stayed that many,many times.We have also stayed at all the monorail resorts and love them all, but we like the towers the best.Once while there, we woke to the bathroom and hall filled with water from a leak from the room above.It was taken care of very fast.They moved us while they gave us free breakfast at Chef Mickeys and they could not have been any faster getting our things moved and asking us over and over again if everything was OK.That was about 3 years ago and we've been back many times since then. Any place can have problems,its important that the problem is corrected fast without any problems.

It sounds like this is the perfect trip to try this resort. We enjoyed staying there, and since you are doing many activities that are on the monorail line - I say go for it!!! If you are dissatisfied, asked to be moved and/or vote with your feet and don't stay there again.

I personally think you are going to love it.

How many nights will you be staying? You might want to consider splitting your stay with another resort. If I were you, I would stay at least some of my vacation at the CR since you've always wanted to!

Stick with the Contemporary. Its a great resort and the location is the best in WDW.

I loved the CR in March. Bright lobby and big room. Great staff--no problems with them--friendly! Great view from the tower. MK is in your backyard!!!! Loved the 4th floor concourse ---CA grille was great. Went for dinner and saw Wishes and the music was piped in. We loved being on the monorail loop. We were in MK ten minutes after leaving our hotel room...wow! I have also read people talking about the CR being "run down". I saw no evidence of that.

You do need to feel comfortable with your decision. It may be your only chance to stay here since your boyfriend has no interest.

I have only stayed in CR Tower once and will again on Sept 18th. It is my DH & DS6 favorite resort. We had no problems the last time we stayed there and usually end up visiting even if we are at another resort. This seems like a perfect chance to try it-don't second guess yourself.

I would definately try CR. You will love it. Its like no other resort in WDW.

I was on the 14th floor during the water main break and it was amazing how quickly they responded to cleaning everything up and relocating everyone that was affected.

Next morning, Chef Mickey's was open and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse!

It was back to business as usual!

seriously though, thanks for the reassurance, I do feel better now and am looking forward to our stay! I just can't believe it's so soon, and I have so much to do between now and then (including an out of state wedding this weekend, yech!)

I thought I would not like it either because if its cement look, but I had a great time, and I can't wait to go back and stay there again.
