After yesterday's spaghetti and rigatoni luncheon, I swore I was getting right back on Atkins...I'm really down on myself right now. My DH called and said he was going to be late and getting his own dinner. So much for the Prime rib I was going to make. My kids won't touch it, and my husband will not eat leftovers so there was no way I was cooking it tonight. The kids were crying for pizza...Here we go again, another seemingly impossible situation. I should have gave them the pizza and been happy with ANOTHER hamburger patty (without the bun  ) UGH...if I eat another hamburger patty I'll turn into one, I'm sure. That pizza smelled so good....I thought you are supposed to lose your cravings for carbs???? I guess with my spaghetti/rigatoni mess-up yesterday, my cravings were up.. I couldn't resist.

I feel like a failure.

I guess I have to start all over again. Do I have to start the whole two week induction thing over...tomorrow being day 1?? Or can I just pick up where I left off? Honestly, this is going to be longest two weeks of my life. I didn't realize what a carb-o-holic I was. Induction is such a killer. I understand how it's necessary to get your body out of carb-hog heaven then increase it slightly to see how much your body can take, but this 20g's a day is a killer. I know it works...I SAW it working. I lost 4 1/2 pounds after being on it for four days! Why can't I stick???

Failure feelings coming again.

Oh well, back on the horse I suppose..Thanks for letting me rant.

I can relate. Don't be so angry with yourself. Just get back to business. I think, but am not certain, that you should probably try induction again. I probably would, just to regulate the blood sugar again. I had some big cravings yesterday. Garlic bread in the freezer calling my name.

Have you ever tried eating just the toppings off the pizza??? Sometimes I will germ up the bread before I can change my mind and eat it. I know it sounds crazy, but I will crush it, smush it, put it on the germy table (of whatever restaurant I am in). Get rid of the body, and fast! You know what I mean. Get rid of it quick.

I wonder if you can cook some things ahead so that you will have quick eats when you are tempted. I made these scrambled egg and sausage things in a muffin pan. Then froze them. They were great, quick, and easy. Maybe some chicken strips (chicken without breading) ready to go. How about making and freezing some meatballs?

A little advanced planning for those weak moments will help you stay in control. You can do it!!!!!!!!!!

I know you can do it!!!! You already have a good start with the first four pounds! Keep going!!! You can do it!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

A1A1 gave you some great advice! I was also BAD :teeth: this weekend. I'm not on Atkins but it's still hard to get back in the routine of the way I'm supposed to be eating. I have to say it feels good tonight to know that I've been on plan all day and I'll get rid of this .6 lb gain this week for sure. From my understanding I would think it would definitely be a help to you to start over with induction. Start over and stick with it the 2 weeks so that you can get the full benefit of what Induction does for you. Don't beat yourself up about a setback. This is a marathon not a race and you WILL get there just hang in there. Pick yourself up and continue on - Onward and Downward! :)

Ok, Ok, I'll start over. Meaning that I will still be in induction during a wedding! But I guess there will always be something. I can't believe it, I was so close to one whole week too.

Thanks so much guys. I was really worried someone would get on here and say, "You can't stick for more than four days??" I was always bad at diets on the long hall.

Hopefully I won't have a bad adjustment as I really wanted to get started on exercising too. I started with "The Firm" tape today, first time since I started Atkins.

One change I need to make is to get to the grocery store for more "quick" low-carb food. I'm ready to throw the burger patties out the window. I hard-boiled some eggs to have. And cold chicken strips (grilled) for topping a salad. If I can make it through the day tomorrow, I'll add that clippie that says ___cheat free! Maybe watching the number grow will spur me on!

You're doing fine!! You're back on track and you have some quick food ready for those tempting times. Everyone else has given you great advice - all I can add is encouragement! :sunny:

Hang in there! You are certainly NOT a failure! You ate healthy for 4 days! That's 4 days of treating your body to good food! It takes time to develop these new healthy eating ideas into habits. Take it one day at a time and soon this healthy eating WILL be a habit and will be much easier to stick with.

Don't kid yourself into thinking you'll NEVER stray. That's just silly! However, develop those good habits and when you stray, you'll know how to go right back to eating on plan.

Here's a  and some pixie dust :wizard: for you! You can do this! ::yes::

I can totally relate to what you are going through. I have started Atkins on and off for quite some time. This past time I was doing well until I got this awful cold and took cold medicine that knocked me out of ketosis.................with that I said, what the heck and adding chicken soup (yes, with nooodles!) and then came Thanksgiving and lo and behold, I am bloated!!

Well, yesterday was a great day for me. I was excellent and todya is just another day that I will take one at a time........

I am going to FL on Jan. 1 and want to be able to feel good wearing shorts. I will be seeing some friends I havent' seen in a long time and want to look good (not just for them but for me!!).

Good luck and keep trying!!

You are not a failure. so put this behind you and forget about it. Today is a brand new day and a brand new chance to start fresh.

Yes, you need to start over on induction. The purpose of induction is to get all of the junk out of your system, get you into ketosis and get rid of the cravings. If you give it the full two weeks, it will make your new way of eating so much easier for you after that time. Granted those first two weeks are the toughest, but I know you can do it! :)

We usually grill every weekend. We grill up enough hamburger, pork chops and chicken breasts to last us the week. Then we can just pop something in the microwave quickly. I love to slice up the grilled chicken breast and saute it in a little olive oil and some lemon pepper seasoning. It's a nice alternative to burgers.

You have choices. Yes, they are hard sometimes, but picture yourself at goal. Tell yourself that nothing tastes as good as thin feel. :) If you find yourself at a pasta bar, see if they have salad. If everyone else is having pizza, just eat the topings off a few slices and add a salad. When you go to the wedding, just eat meat and salad. If they just have appetizers, have veggies, cheeses and meats. Would that wedding cake taste great? I'm sure it would. It would also knock your body out of ketosis for 3 or 4 days, bring back cravings for sweets and carbs and possible be the start of a full out binge. You would also need to start induction again. Is it worth all of that?

Tell yourself that all of the food will still be there when you reach goal. You are sacraficing now to have a healthier and more attractive body. When you are at goal, you will probably be able to eat a piece of wedding cake or a slice of pizza every once in a while and still maintain your weight.

You can do this! ::yes:: :) ::yes::

It is so easy to be tempted when nothing else looks appealing. In this case another burger! A1A1, hit the nail right on the head and gave you awesome advice. Load up the frig with things that you can eat. Spend a day preparing foods for the week. When you are weak and urges strike take your pick from something that is already prepared. This has helped me sooooo much!

I keep turkey or chicken salad made and ready to eat. I also have spicy chicken wings with celery and blue cheese dressing handy for snacks. Hard cheeses and ham or turkey slices. Grilled chicken strips are life savers and can be prepared different ways. I also have meatballs frozen and when I'm ready add some fresh mozzerella and low carb sauce...pop in under the broiler and yum!
If you like seafood you can wrap scallops in bacon add a little butter and broil. Save them in the frig for a snack or meal. I also love to prepare shrimp wrapped in proicutta (sp) also cooked under broiler and they keep very well.

You can do this and get through induction! Take it a day at a time and before you know it you'll saying 14 days cheat free!! Good Luck:)

I just wanted to chime in and say that I feel the same way about eggs that you do about burgers and I'm only on day 2 of Phase I with South Beach. I thought I liked eggs but I guess what I really liked was the pancakes or waffles that I would also eat with them!

I've got to find something different for breakfast to get me through these next 12 days before I hurl! Now burgers are a different story. I could eat a grilled sirloin burger every night (and plan to for the most part) through Phase I. I hope things get better for you and I know we can both make it through the initial phases of these plans - cheat free!!!!!

Thanks so much for the hugs! I really needed them. I went to the store and picked up more low-carb goodies. And as you can see I got my new clippie!
