This morning we had a Catholic Priest over for my mum. I have to admit, I'm not religious at all but I felt the need to clean everything! I bet Father didn't care a bit, but it was like a compulsion. I've never had a priest in my house before, so I guess I wasn't sure what the protocol was.

Now they're together in the living room, I'm in my bedroom, and I'm still stressing over something not being tidy and neat.

Aww, don't worry, he's not there to judge your housekeeping. Sorry about your Mom. :guilty:

Sorry about your mum :(

Coming from a pastors kid, unless your house is a health hazard, I would guess he didnt even notice. He was there to comfort your mum not to critique your housekeeping skills. Please dont worry about it :)

Our previous Episcopal priest tells a story of when he was visiting in a parishioner's house.

The host had gone to another room to get something, and told our priest to help himself to more coffee in the kitchen.

After getting the coffee, our priest looks around, and sees the planning calendar on the refrigerator. He looks up the current day, and sees the entry:

"Father P. over. Dust Bibles"

Oops! :rotfl:

:grouphug: Sorry about your Mom. I hope his visit makes her feel better.

This does remind me of when I was a kid. Our Priest was my friend's Uncle. She lived down the road from me so I would play at her house on the weekends. Her Uncle..the Priest...would come for Sunday dinner at her house several times a month. He was a perfectly nice man....I knew him quite well, as he was my Priest....but seeing him at his families house freaked me out!! I would make some excuse and run home as soon as he showed up. I guess it was hard for me to think of him as a real person.....instead of just a priest.

He's a guest, don't fret over that. You've got so much more to worry about.

Our priest used to come and visit my DGM and give her communion once a week. I guess there was some sort of schedule. Well apparently my DGM did not take kindly to him being late so one day she chastised him. He then knew that every time he came late, he better bring cookies from the bakery to appease her. She was housebound so it didn't really matter if he was 5 minutes early or 5 hours late. The funny part is that she lived with us and we never knew. The priest would come when we were at school or work. He told the story at her funeral and chuckled. He got a big kick out of it. Of course one day she forgot to put her blouse on when she opened the door. He was kind enough not to bring that up at the funeral. :rolleyes1 :lmao: He did mention it to my mother next time at church though. :lmao:

Trust me, the last thing the priest cares about are dust bunnies. ;)
