Having a massage during the sailaway party - bad idea?

DH's spa reservation is for 4:30 on embarkation day. So, that'll be during the sailaway party, right? Beside missing the party (he won't mind that, he hates crowds), will there be a TON of noise in the spa area, so he won't really get to relax? Also, what happens if the emergency drill goes late? Just wondering if I have to do the Spa run after all, since there aren't any other "good" spots open - all are during dinner.

We're sailing on the 4-day Wonder.

TIA!

Hi,

My personal opinon, don't miss the sail away party. I made the mistake of getting my nails done during this event my very first time onboard 'cause they were offering discounts. But, I should have been either on my private balcony or up on top deck with everyone else. Why, you ask? Well, I can tell you I have sailed on very major cruiseline that sails out of Port Canveral (my fav. port by the way) and NOBODY does the sail away like Disney. First, no one else has their employees come out of the terminal to see you off (it's very unique). Second, It's cool to look at the other folks on the other ships as their ships start to get ready and pull out in front of you. Third, Disney throws a great party on deck and you don't have to be right in the mix of things. The adult pool area on the top deck is a great place to watch the sail away too. If you have a balcony room on the terminal side that would be good too if you want privacy. The other side of the ship just has typical port/commercial views. The terminal side has restaurants, bars and even a campground. As the Disney ships sails out she'll blast her unique horn and along the way you'll pass folks at restaurants, bars and on piers watching and waving as you pull away. It's alot of fun and as you just reach the end of the port canal you'll see RCCL in front of you, a ship already out in the horizon. And the journey begins.... I can't wait for my next sailaway party aboard DCL! This will make my sixth cruise aboard her and I haven't ever missed a sailaway since. I think they are very special :) :earsgirl:

Mmketeer.....next cruises: DCL/ Wonder 2/2/06 & RCCL SOS 12/16/05

I had a massage during sail away one cruise and there was really no noise that I rmemeber hearing....I may have just blocked it out though since I was so relaxed LOL.... The sail away parties are nice but I was very happy getting my massage first thing to start out the cruise!

DH isn't much of a crowd person either and did the same thing - 4:30pm spa appt during the sail away party - he loved it - didn't even hear the ship's horn blow as we pulled away from the dock.

There's an opening at 1:00 p.m. on embarkation day. Has anyone ever done that? That might work better for us. DH is not an "eater", so he doesn't care about giant shrimp and crabs legs or mango soup. ;)

I didn't even know they did them that early! I think that would be the one that is noisier as the spa will be full of people who did not make online ressies at that time.
