Wyatt is 6 years old (well, if you ask him, he is 6 1/4). He is 45 pounds, and probably about 48 inches tall (haven't measured him recently). I cannot, for the life of me, find pants to fit him. He needs a 7 or 7x for the length, but then it is ginormous in the waist. I have gotten him slims, they are too big. I have gotten him adjustible waist, and I have to make them as small as they go and they are still to big. Any ideas or advice you can offer? I am at my wits end with him!

Old Navy has slims with the adjustable waistband, add a belt if needed. My two ds' (10, 6) are stringbeans too, tough to fit.

My son's 10 and weighs only 50 pounds so you can imagine the trouble I have! Like your son, he needs the length but the waist is WAAY to big (he tells me his pants fall down his butt cheeks!) so I finally found a pair at The Children's Place with adjustable wait that fit - have you tried there? I also found that track pants are a good alternative if he will wear them - they tend to have smaller waistlines but more generosity in the length.

Gap has them too -- they're the only pants we've been able to find that fit DS (who's 5, weighs only about 37 pounds and is above average height) well. :)

The thing I like about The Children's Place is they have the "cool" pants - like the camo coloured ones. My boys tend to think Gap pants are "too dressy" as they carry mostly khaki-type pants and my son will NOT wear jeans of any kind.

Hi! We always found Penney's Arizona brand had a wide variety of options to try...also love Old Navy's adjustable waist. Good luck! It's hard finding clothes, I know! :)

I have the same problem with my "almost 10 year old". A few years ago he decided he prefers "wind pants" with the elastic waists or drawstrings. It made shopping for him MUCH easier. :teeth:

The only thing I don't like about adjustable waist is I have to make them so small and then they look all bunchy!

Big V, he eats like a horse!!!! The other night he was at my parents for dinner. My dad made him a peanut butter sandwich (2 slices of bread), ate that, had another, ate that one, and wanted a third!! It is nothing for him to eat half a pizza at a sitting!

DS is 7 and is about 52 pounds. He is hard to fit! I have found his jeans at Old Navy. He wears a 7 slim and I love the adjustable waist. He never tucks his shirts in so the bunching isn't a problem. I have had good luck at Sears with their Canyon River Blues. He will wear their painter pant jeans.

DS5 is 45 inches and 37 lbs. we do a lot of belts and buy slim cuts when we can

We have the same problem with our oldest DS (5). We buy the Levi's slim jeans and Gap adjustable waist. The Gap pants sometimes do look bunched but its better to be bunched around his waist rather than his ankles :rotfl:

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one out there with this problem also. My son is 5 1/2 weighs abt 35 lbs. I have the most WORST time finding pants for him. Slims with the adjustable waist are big on him, not to mention he is also tall so ALL of his jeans look like highwaters. When we get ready to go somewhere my husband asks if he has any other jeans to wear and I tell him no they are all short on him and I cannot find any long enough. I hate it. My oldest son makes fun of him which makes me mad. I fed him like a horse but still stays like a beanpole. Just glad to know that Im not the only one out there with this problem.

I have the same issue with my ds and we have had luck with Old Navy and Levi slims. Good luck!! :)

I've always had this problem with my son too. After MANY years (son's 15) of buying clothing for him, all I can really say is, try lots of different brands and stick to that brand once you find it. Hopefully, it's a brand that has LOTS of styles to choose from. Another thing is, in stores like Old Navy (probably all of them, but I notice it a lot in Old Navy) grab several pair of the same size pant and have him try all of them on. Their sizing isn't really too consistent.

Now that my son is older, he LOVES the baggier clothing so it works out well. I can buy pants a few sizes up and he has his length, but.......they're really loose in the waist (not to a point of boxers showing though). Plus, they still fit a year later (though normally not as loosely) for play clothes.

I have the same problem with my dd (4). She weighs 33 pounds and is 39 inches. She needs the lengh but then the waist is too big. Also the neck on some of her tops are too big for her. She also is a good eater. I wish I had her problem. :flower:

Welcome to the Slim Boys' Club :rotfl: :teeth:

My 8 year old is 51" and oly weighs about 43 pounds...

I have tried them all too! With track pants, we have the bunching problem, and same with some of the adjustable waist jeans and khakis too!

I have found that Levis slims are pretty good most of the time on him. I do also have Old Navy slims that also have adjustable waist in them. These are still a bit big but not huge so when I do the adjustable waist they don't bunch up too much.
But, the best for us has been Levis Slims....have you tried these?
Good Luck. :flower:

DD12 is super slim and super long legged. Our best luck is Gap Slims with an adjustible waist. I'm glad that Old Navy has adjustible waist slims, too now, but they tend to be cut fuller and can appear "bunched". I end up spending a lot more money on this DD's jeans than the other kids'.

I'm pretty sure the Levi's slims are the slimmest slims. My son's the exact same size as the OP's, and the Levi's fit him. Many of his other pants, I've had to take in.

DD is a stick child at 5. She wears gymboree pants with the pulltab that buttons so we can get them skinny enough for her.
