So I know I can provide a credit card to POR front desk and charge back to my room. Can I also provide my disney rewards balance card and have them deduct charges from that first? Or do I need to use the rewards card at the parks/dining etc instead of having it charged back to my room? anyone know?

I use the rewards card and Disney gift cards from time to time. All you have to do is go down to the front desk every couple of days and have them charge the cards for what is currently on the account.

While the redemption card is not technically a gift card that is how it works when in use.
You can't put a gift card on file.
You would have to charge to your room and then go to the front desk to pay it off or you'd have to use it in the park.
I'd just use it in the parks instead of adding another step.

I'm curious about this as well, of course I always use our rewards to help pay off the reservation balance before we check-in, so usually have nothing left on it. I then will use my GC's during the trip, and payoff the room charges every 2-3 days. We much rather charge to our rooms, because this way if DW or DD wants something they can just charge it to the room and not worry about who may have the GC(s). Plus, I always combine our GC's onto 1 or 2 cards and rather keep them in the safe, so we do not lose them.

I think the rewards card can only be used to pay off balances day by day. Although we did the rewards card first for a club level stay in 2012. That did not seem to work in 2016.

I'm not sure when your trip is, but the whole "credit card on file to charge back to the room" has been a hot topic lately. You might know this already, but Disney has announced authorization holds in 100 dollar increments for room charging every time you hit 100 in room charges. There are several threads on the disboards about it...I used to be in the camp that would go down and use gift cards and disney reward cards every night/few nights to pay off room balances. This trip I think I might just carry the gift card with me to avoid multiple incremental holds on my credit card. Honestly it will probably make me track my spending more closely without the ease of charging to the magicband haha.

I, too, have been debating how I'm going to handle this on our next trip coming up in August. I no longer use credit cards and only use my debit card and would rather not have continuous holds. I most likely will combine my gift cards and just carry it around with me as well. Although, I may just leave the charging to my bands for just snacks as it will be much easier to manage and won't tie up my funds nearly as quickly.. $100 in snacks is a lot of snacks :rotfl:

I plan on paying at the point of sale directly this trip instead of charging back to the room.

Have fun! Over 12 pages on the new Disney policy regarding CC holds, charging to your room, gift cards etc. Policy changed first of February and if you have a reservation after that date you should have received an e-mail pointing you to the new policy on the Disney site. Still a lot of unanswered questions so people are waiting to see what happens when someone goes after it takes effect.
