I sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay about 6-8 years ago, but haven't done any selling (or buying for that matter) in the past few years. But I have a set of china that isn't selling here locally and seems to be demanding a fairly high price on Ebay, so I'm going to bite the bullet and list the pieces. But it has been SO LONG since I've been on Ebay, I'm wondering what has changed.

Do they still have listing fees and/or offer "list for free" opportunities?

Do they still ask for Final Value Fees?

Can I insist that the buyer pay for shipping insurance?

Help me catch up.... I need a "what new with Ebay" tutorial!.................P

Yes, there are free listings, but it's going down in May to only 20 free/month.

Yes, final value fees on both the item price and shipping costs. 10% for both

I don't think you can insist on customers paying for insurance, but you can factor it in to your price. I ship via ebay/paypal shipping, so tracking is included for first class and insurance up to $50 for items shipped priority. If you sell a high cost item, I think it's worth the cost to pay for insurance.

Ebay is strongly pushing sellers to open ebay stores. There are usually free listing events each month, but generally they exclude relistings. I have one now for 1500 listings for a period of time, but no relists.
