I have had so many people ask me how I am doing that it is getting hard to keep typing those little e-mails. So I feel that I should let you all know how I am doing since you all gave me such support through the worst of it all.
I finished my chemo in March of 2005, then radiation in May of 2005. I did a few trips to WDW then off disability and back to work in September. It felt great to be back to the living and on with my life.
Well that danged chemo did things to my body that I never thought it could. I now have neuropathy in both my feet and my pinky and ring finger in my hands. They feel like pins and needles all the time and sometimes I have no feeling at all. The chemo did major damage to those nerves.
I also have neuropathy now, unexplained pain to different parts of my body at different times. They said it is the nerves that do work getting signals for those that don't. Sometimes it hurts, most times it is just annyoying because I can handle it.
I also have lymphedema in my right side and have to wear a thick stocking like sleeve all day. It is hot and a bit uncomfortable, but I am alive.
The cancer is gone now and thanks to the miracle of surgery I have new parts and rebuilt parts. Won't show them off, use your imagination. lol
I had to because of these problems go on long term disability in March. I will probably not be able to go back to nursing and the insurance is encouraging me to find some other interest and they will send me to school so I can do something else, but I am not sure if I want to do that at this stage in my life. They said if I can do something where I can earn what I do now it will work but I don't have to take any job if it is less than what I earned as a nurse.
My disability checks are alot less than I earned but I don't have to go to work, dress up, spend gas, etc. So I can survive on it. And now I can go to WDW whenever I want and can afford it.
So I went to Wendy's and got 3 free RT tickets by saving cups, I signed up for DING and I got a new AP.
I am doing well and hope to see some of you and trade with all of you again in WDW. Peggie
