My wife and I are planning our trips this year for the 250 points we are buying and we have found that we don't have enough!!!!

Of course we probably don't have the money to cover all the travel expenses for the multitude of trips we want to take.

This is going to be harder then I thought.

I can see it's only the three of you but can't understand why 250 points is not enough.You must be looking to do alot like take the cruise and stay two weeks, which then you dont have enough. You must be more specific with your plans. I don't think anybody has enough points when it comes to disney. I have 350 points for a family of five and i never have enough but dvc is great for us and i hope it's good for you.

Your problem is Atlanta is too close to Orlando....too easy for those last minute trips!!!

Need to get a new picture taken. We have a second child, a 7 week old son.

The problem is that once every other year we bring my parents and my wifes parents to celebrate one of the children's birthdays. This year will be Mitchell's one year.

That GV at OKW eats up a lot of points for 5 nights (190). We did a 2 bedroom 2 years ago. That is when I decided I wanted to join, it just took this long to convince my wife. We also decided that if we could we would always make sure everyone had their own bedroom.

We also want to visit Vero and I want to stay at the AKL. I think we will have to do the AKL as a cash proposition. The problem is that the Vero trips pushs us 12 points over. If I could go one week earlier we would have 8 points leftover.

My head is spinning planning everything I want to do. I don't want to get started with borrowing because I know I will always be behind then.

Adding more points is not a possibility. My wife would never go for that already. I was looking at 300 point resales.... but did not want the extra yearly dues in the budget.

I guess we will either try to rent a few points when the time comes or see about just staying one night fewer at Vero.

We too had the same problem. We did an add on before our first trip. About every 2nd trip we end up with some relative deciding to join us!

We joined in Feb. or 2002 at BCV's, which didn't open till July and we are already borrowing! It's amazing how fast you can use up points. I guess an add-on is the only solution.

If you really want to see what your future is going to hold- just go to the thread I started about "how many points did you start with and how many do you have now?" We are only in the process of doing some deep looking into about the DVC- we want to purchase by March, but asking this question has really opened my eyes! I am 100% sure that the total points that we were thinking of buying will be no where near what we will really want, but...... ya gotta start somewhere!!! Good luck with your plans!!!

It's an addiction - Bought at VWL dec 2001 300pts - thought we were over buying - then in July 2002 stayed at OKW and thought I need points here (larger units/smaller point structure) - and now I think we are dabbling with buying a 150-ptish resale for BWV - but thats not until after taxes come back.

We bought 185 last August, and before we even arrived home, I started wondering if we shouldn't have just gone with the 200. When our guide called to follow up, I mentioned that we were still contemplating additional points, and he said that since we had not yet closed, we could still bump it to 200 without the 25/50 rule for add-ons.
We ended up just keeping it as is, but if you're serious, you may want to check into it with your guide before you close and see if that would be the case.

We fully understand, we bought 150 points at VWL, came home, read these boards and started planning our trips...ended up adding 250 at BWV immediately (before we closed on VWL) and added another 150 at BWV within 6 months.

Don't forget you can borrow points form next year--unless you're already counting those points

We could only afford 170 points. But, we plan on borrowing the next points for a few years. DD graduates next year and in a few years, we won't always need a 1 bdrm

MY DW and I did a 50 pt add-on while we were signing our original contracts. We still don't believe we have enough ! When will the madness end? Never I hope !!!!!
