Haven't been to Disney in about 5 years. Have Dining Plan question.

My brother and his family are planning their first trip to WDW for this coming October.

They're tossing around the idea of either staying at Art of Animation, Port Orleans or one of the All Stars.

So like I've mentioned in my title, we haven't been in 5 years so things might have changed since then, but he told me that if they stay at a value resort they're only allowed to get the Quick Service Dining Plan and not able to get the regular DP or even the Deluxe DP. Is this true? Never heard this one before.

I don't think that's true but I'm not sure. Best guess would be to call disney and find out. I would think u would be able to book whatever dining plan that u want for the extra money lol but that's just me. Anyways call and then let me know what they say. We go to disney every other year. This year we are staying at contemporary but next time my son wants to stay at art of animation and we will prolly still want to get the deluxe dining plan again. Hoping for the best!

I don't think it is true but I would call to talk to a CM. I believe that if you stay at a value and get free dining or a stay, play, and dine discount, you get the QS plan with the package. I have co-workers that always stay at values and know they go at times when they get free dining, but they do a lot of TS meals. I am pretty sure with values IF you use the discount you get the QS plan for free and then you have to pay the difference to upgrade to the regular dining plan if that is what you want.

They're allowed to pay for any dining plan they want.

But during the times of the year when free dining, or a similar discount, is offered, that's the plan that comes free with that resort. Upgrading to a different plan will cost extra.
