Have you ever shipped to a resort?

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered?

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)?

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation?

Thanks from the newbie!

We have never shipped anything or used a service. Sometimes we have taken down some bagels to toast in the food court or those tiny boxes of cereal. The gift shop at the resort has a small grocery section and we just pick up milk for the room fridge.

Cell phones we just add a texting plan on with our service provider. We don't use the phones much in the park. There is wireless in the parks now.

We used Garden Grocer and were very happy with them. Their fruit was exactly like I'd pick myself.

We're with Rogers and added on a text/calling plan. I chose that because it was the least hassle, for me anyway. Didn't use it much but came in handy a couple of times when we got separated.

We used Garden Grocer last trip. We ordered mostly snacks, milk and little boxes of cereal. We also ordered some Mike's Hard Lemonade!! :)

My husband was constantly ordering items to be shipped to our hotel. He ordered items that were cheaper to buy in the States. Everyday of our 12 day trip there was a package to pick up from the front desk. One day I went down to find out he had ordered Season 1 of The Walking Dead.

Have you ever shipped to a resort? Nope ...

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered? Yes

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)? Often buy through a service, but there are stores at some resorts

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation? Up my plan ... costs around $20

Have you ever shipped to a resort? We shipped to POR on our 2009 trip....an order from the Disney store though, not groceries.

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered? No

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)? We now stay offsite and usually have a villa with a full kitchen (and a rental car), so we do a grocery run for drinks and snacks to the closest Walmart or Publix.

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation? We are with Telus and they have a US plan that's good for 30 days that includes both talk (a certain number of minutes) and a text (50, I think). Its $40. We also buy a calling card (I like Vox America) and have it with us as well, so I can touch base with my mom a few times from the room.

We have never shipped to a store but we have had Disney Store ship our orders to the resorts well in advance of our arrival and have had no issues. For have not used a service for groceries but have taken a cab to the Super Target to stock up on stuff. Since my kids are small we have never had to worry about cell phones so far. We just hang together and smile through the long wait in lines:)

Yes we ordered from the disney store as well as target and had it shipped to POR with no issues.

As for the phones - we bought a roammobility sim card before we left and went online & purchased a plan. It was awesome!!!!!! Waaaaayyyy cheaper than what i was paying with Telus :). We still use the sim card for our quick shopping trips across the border - just go online and pay $4/day.

We didnt order groceries - DH just did a quick trip to the store when we got to POR.

I have shipped to a US hotel nearly every time that I am down there. These are often purchases from Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc., really anywhere that either won't ship to Canada or will charge high rates to do so. I always plan to have the actual package arrive within 2 days of my arrival (on either side... before or after), even if I have to pay for faster shipping. Depending on the company you can either indicate in your name that you are a guest (i.e. FirstName LastName-Guest, ResortName, ResortAddress) or if the system won't let you, I have had no problems with not indicating I'm a guest and just leaving the -Guest from the last name part. Some hotels will charge a holding fee for packages that you have shipped, others won't. I've read that at WDW the hotels that charge shipping fees are those that are conference hotels. I had something shipped to the Poly when we were there earlier this year and the package was in my room waiting for me, no charge.

For groceries, we rent a car and stop off at Target or Walmart. This also allows us to get interesting treats that we can't find in Canada and stock up on other items (such as diapers), that are cheaper in the US. I always find it fun to go to a Walmart or Target in the US (and I avoid Walmart at home).

For cell phone, if we figure that we'll need it then we up our plan or add on travel packages. Generally we don't use our phones much on vacation unless there is Wifi. We usually opt to pay for text messages on an individual basis and not as a package since we don't use as much as at home.

Have you ever shipped to a resort? Yup. All the time. Amazon, Zappos, etc... If you run a search on the Disboards, there is a lengthy thread that has all the information that you need to include in the shipping label to ensure that the package reaches your hotel. It is different for each WDW resort, as some have business centres, some just go to check-in. It's well worth your time to track the thread down.

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered? Nope. We always rent a car so we can do our own shopping.

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)? See above.

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation? Check the sticky out at the top of this board. There is a lengthy, lengthy thread about cell phone use at WDW. I personally swap out my sim card for one from T-Mobile and have unlimited calling, texting and data for $3/day (and free calling back to Canada using the Google Voice app)

Thanks from the newbie!

Have you ever shipped to a resort?

All the time! When my kids were really little we shipped formula and diapers from diapers.com and we will ship from Target and if I have other US goods I want I do and then bring them home

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered?

Yes, we have used WeGoShop many times and been very happy

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)?

If we are there a while I order cereal and pop tarts and chips and candy to have some snacks for the pool or in the room. I buy the cold stuff (milk and juice) at the resort.

I get a travel pack for data and we have a US pay as you go for voice as we have family in the US. Rogers now offers a $7.99/day plan for the US for data.

Thanks from the newbie!

Have a great trip! :) Sorry, thought my comments would not appear in the quoted section!

We use Garden Grocer each time. No complaints whatsoever. There is a delivery fee and a minimum order, but you'll still come out ahead vs. paying $3 each time for bottled water/pop in the parks

We have added on a US roaming plan in the past. With free wifi in the parks and resorts, you can really get away without data roaming whatsoever though. We never use our cell phones to make actual phone calls with LOL. We do call home occasionally via laptop, again via the free wifi at the resort.

Have you ever shipped to a resort? Yes and just ordered a waterproof camera case to be delivered this trip for use in the pool. Yay!

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered? No, but friends are next week. They're using Garden Grocer. I'll let you know how it goes.

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)? Take snacks with us and then buy milk, etc in the food court. Sorry this time we won't have a fridge though. :o(

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation? We have used TracFones for years. Much less expensive for us then adding a US plan to my Roger's account.

Thanks from the newbie!

Hope this helps friend!

We drove down last year, so we were able to stop at a store for some breakfasty type stuff.

My phone is with Koodo, and I added their 30 day, $40 US plan, which gave me unlimited texting and 100 minutes of calling time. I don't own a smart phone, so no data needed! The girls brought their notebooks with them so we had wifi access in the room. That was all we needed for checking emails and Facebook and stuff.

As previous posters have said, not a problem to do this from any website that ships to the US - lot of them offer free or cheap shipping, so I can usually grab a few things online to put away for Christmas! Love using the Disney Store outlet to order some items to wear on our trip too, especially since they sell Park authentic merchandise now too.

We have used WeGoShop a few times - same idea as Garden Grocer, except they shop where you want them to (Publix, Walmart) and get good deals or pick up generic brands to save us $$$ - you just email them a detailed list - even picked up our toiletries so I didn't have to pack them (shampoo, body wash, Tylenol, sunscreen, etc). This trip we are renting a car for a day since my sister is coming too so we can split the cost (she likes to shop for herself as well).

For cell phone, I am with Koodo - just went away for five days to North Carolina, added the $15 US unlimited texting for 30 days, which is what I will do for Disney - my family all have unlimited texting at home, so no need to call.

Never done any of those!

I wouldn't presume to trust shipping to a resort ...what I want I ship here or to a US company I use. Sooner or later Disney will get fed up with that and stop it.

I'm on vacation, groceries? I'm not making a thing!

My cell, I add a US plan to my phone here.

:thumbsup2

I should add...my daughter goes to Disney every other weekend
She has an unlocked phone and has a US SIM card she inserts. Works great for her!

There are certain Amway products we enjoy, that we can't get in Canada, so I get them drop-shipped to our resort before we leave for the trip. Easier to bring them home that way and the resort just drops them off at our room when they arrive.

Have you ever shipped to a resort? Yes. No problems. Amazon, Target, etc. They keep it until I arrive.

Have you ever bought groceries from one of the services I see offered? Yes. Vons.

What do you do for groceries (milk and such)? I use Vons. I get the basics delivered to the hotel.

What do you do about cellular phones? Buy a US disposible? Up your plan for the vacation? I don't use my cell phone much. FaceTime if I have to. I do have a US plan if I need my cell phone for calls or web browsing.

Thanks from the newbie!
