Have you used FP+?? Post your experience HERE!!!

Our trip begins August 13th. I discovered that we were eligible for FP+ about a week ago, after logging into the mobile app (the website had prompts for us too). I never received an email, but I did receive a letter from Disney TODAY (via UPS)...

You are invited to help test MyMagic+

Hello _____ Party,

As an upcoming Disney Resort hotel guest, you could help us test a new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort before we share it with the rest of the world. It's a new collection of magical tools we're calling MyMagic+.

Since MyMagic+ is still being developed, we're offering this opportunity for some guests, like you, to test it out during your upcoming stay and tell us what you think works and where we need to improve. But don't worry, if you decide not to participate in this test, you will still enjoy a great Walt Disney World visit.

As a tester, you get to try our NEW MagicBand.
This cool and colorful wristband is an all-in-one accessory that connects you to all of the selections you've made. You can use MagicBand to:
  • Enter your Disney Resort hotel room with just a touch.
  • Enter Walt Disney World Parks (valid park admission required).
  • Access the FastPass+ attractions and shows you've selected.
  • Purchase food and merchandise at select locations.

And, test our new FastPass+ service to reserve access to select attractions and shows before you leave home.
Disney Fastpass service has always been a great way to enjoy Walt Disney World attractions with little or no wait. During this test, with the new FastPass+ service, you can reserve access to select shows and attractions in advance (valid Theme Park admission required).

The back of the letter has the 5-step directions:

  1. Sign in or register with MyDisneyExperience.com
  2. Link your reservation.
  3. Link your Walt Disney World ticket or pass.
  4. Customize your MagicBands by August 3, 2013.
  5. Select your FastPass+ experiences.

Anyone there now or recently back want to share? Especially interested about whether you we're able to use FP-...

:)

Love, love, love it. It is working great and we are able to use our room tickets (and in our case also our Annual Passes) to get regular fast passes. I realize that option will go away when FP+ actually goes live for all but today we road every single ride we wanted to from using FP and FP+ with the exception of two attractions (COP and TTA 2X's) that we just walked onto with no wait. We did Buzz 2 x's; HM; Space; BTMRR, Peter Pan; Monster's Inc; we could have done a ton of other stuff but it's really hot here and we wanted to relax for a bit this afternoon. It was our plan to go out to Epcot tonight but really bad storms were coming through and I no longer deal with Rain at disney. We'll be up and out early tomorrow doing the Studios in the morning and then later in the day we have our FP+ scheduled for Epcot.

Can you pull a regular fastpass for a time when you have a scheduled fastpass from fastpass+? So for example, if you have a fastpass+ time of 1:00 -2:00 for BTMR, will it allow ou to pull a regular fastpass from SM with a time that overlaps 1:00 - 2:00?

Of course.

Not sure; we had all our fast pass + scheduled for a 3 hour block, one an hour and our last regular fast pass window ended about 30 minutes before our fast pass + started, we didn't try after that and left the park after our last FP+ ride.

Oh another small item of note; those people who received the email and didn't reply or said no, were given them upon check in. The story we heard (from a CM who seemed to actually know) was that they didn't get enough people to sign up from the emails (could be a lot never actually got them) and they had the wrist bands ready and waiting for them when they arrived. All of those wrist bands were the plain grey ones so we could all easy tell who didn't take the time to plan in advance. Those seemed to be the most clueless of what was going on and truly didn't understand the system.

That's helpful thanks. Oh no I can just hear it now...'watch out honey here come's a grey bander...' Lol.

We are here now using MB and do like it as well. We booked all our FP+ an hour apart in a route so we basically just walked up the to the ride. We made on adjustment while in the park using iphone, but service has been sketchy inside the park.

We made adjustments last night for Wed and we were still able to book all the attractions we wanted, in a row, just not as many time options were available as in the past.

I wished I had book Illuminations when I first saw it as now I can't find it on any night we are here. At first I didn't want to "waste" a FP on it but now wish I had as it would be great to just walk to a good spot not have to stake one out for an hour.

Off to Epcot today!

If you are from Canada or a country other than the USA you are supposed to receive your bands at your resort.

However, I posted on the August fast pass thread yesterday about my phone calls with tech support yesterday. I phoned about a question and I was basically told that Canadians are not eligible for the test and it was a glitch that we were allowed to book fast pass times and customize magic bands. I was told they just realized the problem yesterday.

That is just my experience yesterday, so I don't know how true this is. I'm wondering if there are other Canadians who have called within the last day or so about this.

As someone else has mentioned, it may be due to the fact that you are from Canada. I know numerous people who have accidentally been given the option to customize MagicBands, but never received any due to being out of country.

Apparently, only people from the United States are being allowed to test at the moment, I think if you phone up IT they may give you some complimentary FastPass+ for the confusion.

Hmmmm, this is interesting, I'm from Canada....
I still haven’t received an email invite to test (the 17 day mark was Aug 5th)
However, I received an email this morning indicating that my MB have been shipped via UPS and they have even provided a tracking number.
No info on the UPS site just yet, I assume it just too early.
There were reports from some other Canadians that their MB shipping address changed to the resort address. I checked yesterday, and it still displayed my home address. So, I’m very curious if the tracking number is shipping to my home or the resort????
I guess only time will tell!:confused3

Great thread, and there are a whole bunch of testers heading to WDW this week. I hope they post up their experiences in this thread. Love to hear the first person accounts of the system in action. It gives me hope that it won't be a PITA.

I just received the same email as you this morning and I customized my magicbands almost three weeks ago! I'm going to assume the magicbands will be shipped to the resort. I don't think any Canadians reported that the bands were shipped to their homes.

Please keep us posted on this!

FWIW, I think FP+ for Illuminations and Fantasmic! are only available Fri-Sun.

I've been trying like crazy to get some for our vacation, but they're just not available for the days we are going to those parks, and I'm very happy with the MK parades/fireworks I have for the days they would be available.

So waiting or just enjoying from far away it is. :goodvibes

I definitely will take the weekend limitation into account for our next vacation, though!

My situation is similar to yours. I'm also in Canada but received 2 different emails this morning. (I have a room only res for 2 nights then and 8 night package so believe I have 2 sets of bands being made.)

One of my emails said they're being shipped and provided the UPS number. When I enter the UPS number it says it can't find it.

The other email said that my bands would be ready for us to pick up at our resort.

So....time will tell. Pink bands for us! Yay!

I hope I get picked for this or its rolled out for my December trip as I would love to have some late days because I got fastpass+ for the few things that my DD will do.

The UPS tracking number I was given still does not work :confused3

Interesting 'glitch'

In case you can't see the pics, I have FP+ in 2 parks on the same day.
