Anybody a huge "Cake Doctor" fan like I am? If you haven't seen it, it is the greatest, easiest cookbook for cakes -- all of them start with plain old cake mixes. I just made a cannoli cake and it is really beautiful, if I do say so myself!:teeth: All the cakes turn out beautiful.

I love that book! Have you tried the carrot cake? Everyone thinks I'm such a good baker. I never tell anyone my secret.;)

Well, I don't cook too often. I have been more into preparing meals since we moved to southern CA a couple of months ago & I really don't know why. But, at some point, I could see that happening. Cakes seem like a winter thing. Warm & fuzzy feeling.

Woohoo! Edited to add that this is my 100th post!

I'm so stupid! I always tell people! I really should let them believe I slaved all day!:D

Oh cool! I want that book! :bounce: First item on Christmas list: Cake Doctor, the book. :p

My sister does all the time! And my mom gave me her copy when Dad was diagnosed with diabetes.

I have the "Dinner Doctor" and use it quite often!!

Yes, everything out of that book is delicious! You should try the German Chocolate Bundt Cake. VERY good!

I've never heard of that? Is it written by the same person?

I had never heard of them either but just went ebaying and found The Cake Doctor, The Chocolate Doctor and The Dinner Doctor.

These are a great idea for my mom who loves new receipes!

My mom has it - I've enjoyed every cake she has made from it! Not sure what it was called, but she made a cake with ameretto for my birthday a couple years ago. Absolutely yummy!

I haven't used the Cake Doctor but the Dinner Doctor is great. I have made alot of tasty dinners that everyone loves. The best part is how quick and easy it is!

Same lady auntpolly!!

Same concept. You know there is a show on Food network that is similar to these concepts. Take prepared foods and doctor them up for something special and impressive and yummy!

uh oh.....now you've got me spending money at Borders tomorrow!
Thank for the tip!:D

I want to see that book, too. I am a weird person (although maybe a few of you are too?? LOL) that actually thinks that a cake from a mix tastes better than homemade. I have not had a homemade cake that I liked better than good ole B Crocker or D Hines...:p

I know they taste better than my home made cakes! ::yes::

Hey y'all. You guys got me so excited that I just bought the Cake Mix Doctor in paperback at half.com for $7.49 plus $2.79 s/h..I hope that's a pretty good price, I didn't feel like going to the book store...::yes::

Here's the link if you are interested..http://half.ebay.com/search/search.jsp?nthTime=1&product=books&keyword=Cake+Doctor&x=8&y=17

P.S. I don't know if this recipe came from that book, but if any one wants a copy of an Orange Cake that is just totally out of this world...(Yellow cake mix, orange jello mix, 5 eggs, oil, baked with nuts in a bundt pan, then using an orange juice syrup-saturate the cake...it is so moist your fingers get wet...mmmmmmm..), p.m. me and I will send it to you when I get back from Montana on July 11...
