Have you tried Kouzzina?

We're back from our trip and thought I'd post that we liked the food at this restaurant. I had the T-bone pork (really a pork chop) and it was good. DH had the lamb shank and thought it was just okay. The donuts for dessert were great. We'd probably eat there again but it isn't one of our top restaurants so it isn't on the Must Do Every Trip list for us.

yup! ate there two weeks ago and loved it. and this is coming from a picky greek mother and me, her daughter :)

didnt have the steak but had...

spiro's salad... very good quality feta
spanakopita...very good...small for the price
pastitso... LOVED it! strong on the cinammon but still really enjoyed it
lamb shank... lamb melted off the bone..didnt really like the beans with it but was too full to care
loukoumades... loved them. warm and fresh...just as good as the ones we make
galaktoboureko... very good also

i'm a big fan and cant wait to go back!

Ooooo they have them? I might have to try it just because of that! I had them for the first time at our local Greek festival made by my friend's grandmother. They were fantastic! What's not to like about them, in fact? :)

I did not end up going back to Kouzzinna this trip as I had planned.

I cancelled and rebooked on three different nights, but after thinking about the meal more and reading the comments here and speaking to some of the people I met from the DIS while I was in Disney it seems like the Fish is the only great thing on the menu.
I did not want the fish again and since I was paying OOP I did not want to eat here again when I could go over to Blue Zoo.

The whole fish here was excellent, but the dessert was not very good and the soup was nothing special. The hummus was very boring – the Morocco counter service was better. The espresso was weak.

After reading some of the stuff here and talking to a lot of the people about their meals there I decided I did not want to take another evening there in the same trip.

I'll try it again when I go back and I still think it is worth trying.
I had excellent service. Now that they have been open a while I think this has been addressed.

I never heard anyone yelling "Opa", so maybe they are done with that.

The head Chef is spending a lot of time interacting with customers to make sure stuff is good. How many times have you even seen the head chef in a Disney Restaurant, let alone one that is talking to customers about the meals. They are trying harder than most.

Just to say it again I am not a fan of Cat Cora. I still do not know how she was selected for Iron Chef. She basically came out of nowhere to fill a perceived void by the network that gave us Rachel Ray and her delicous Deviled Ham Dip:scared1:. (Yes I know that Cat worked at many nice resturaunts, but she never had her own. She is an executive Chef for a magazine who had a minor show on the network.)

Anyway compared to the other 1TS meals in Disney (I have said many times I am unhappy with most of the TS food in Disney since they started trying to maximize profit from the DDP) I still think it is very good and worth a try.

We ate there in September and thought it was pretty good. I got the pork T-bone with the Kouzzina potatoes and the chocolate cake for dessert. The t-bone was very good and I thought that the potatoes could have had a little less garlic and a little more spice, but that's just me. I loved the presentation of the dessert, but it wasn't to die for. Not bad, just not amazingly awesome either.
The part of the experience that I did not particularly enjoy was how long it took us to get a table. The restaurant was nowhere near full or anything and we were there about 10 minutes before our reservation time (our reservation time was at 5:10 and we were there at 5:00). We had to wait until about 5:30 to be seated and when we got to our table, we were under a vent, making it was so cold that it definately brought down the whole experience a little. Once we made it to our table though, our server was excellent and the meal was good. I would go again, but probably not for another trip or two as it didn't reach my "to-do" list.

We went to the grand opening on Sept 17th and got to meet Cat herself. The photo below is my super-happy boyfriend, who is a huge Iron Chef fan with of course, Cat herself. My son didn't believe it was really her (he watches Iron Chef with my boyfriend often) and was burying his head in his arms pretending to cry while she was posing with him.
I had the lambburger with sweet potato fries, it was perfect and exactly the size of meal I wanted, not too big and not too small. It had a nice spicy kick to it, not too spicy though. It had feta and kalamata olives cooked into it and had gyro sauce on it. I loved the sweet potato fries! My BF got the fisherman's stew, which was AWESOME. I stole a few bites from him. :goodvibes My son enjoyed his kids meal, but I almost felt guilty eating my meal in front of him, even though he would prefer a kids meal any day. There were lots of people shouting Opa! :goodvibes Here are the pictures of my bf and son with Cat. I took the pictures with a cell phone camera, so they do not look great at all! :wizard:
