Hey Gang,

My family booked an 8 day stay at a 2 bedroom in AKV for October (16th - 24th) of this year. They have made it clear that they will be in construction mode during our visit and I was curious what that will be like.

Would you anticipate this being a minor inconvenience or a major headache? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Geoff

PS I've never stayed at the AKL before... have you been satisfied with the bus transportation? We're usually at BCV which is pretty convenient to lots of things.

We stayed at the Contemporary Resort in the South Wing when they were doing renovations there. In fact, they were doing them on our floor, just down a different wing of the building. We heard very little during the day and nothing at night. It was no inconvenience to us at all.

They were doing nearly a complete gut of the wing. Not just painting, electrical, etc. Major work.

Us too! We were there September 2005 (my 50th birthday celebration during DL's 50th birthday celebration!). We had a parking lot view/standard and looked at the construction pit and workers everyday. We fought for a place to park every evening, once parking in the security parking space then went into our room and called the front desk to let them know where we had to park, since the CMs and construction crews were using all of the spaces (the next day the lot was near empty!). We had no hot water one morning and complained. Actually we complained alot, especially when my daughter had to heat the baby's bottle up by running water in the coffee pot to get hot water, but since we were staying on a CM discount, we had no recourse (that means, we complained alot, but got  ).

We stayed at the WL when the villas were being built. We faced the construction site (the villas) and couldn't sit out on the balcony because of the noise and activities and "stares" from the workers. That was July 1999, our 10th anniversary. Again, CM discounted room, didn't have much of a choice to move.

I can really pick 'em can't I?

stayed at OKW when it was being build, SSR also, VWL too.

no one kepts me off the balcony!!!

besides construction work is so amazing - I think it is fun to watch.

the worst I have been was at HGVC - the building next door was going up. It was fun to watch them every morning.

now if I partied at night - I would not enjoy it so much. They started every morning at 6:30 am. but this didn't bother me. I have heard that Disney doesn't start until 7:30 am.
