Has anyone stayed at both of these. My husband is driving me crazy. He won a bid for Vistana on Skyauction for August. We have stayed at V.V before and it was wonderful. He is worried that Vistana Resort will not be as nice.
A couple of years ago we stayed at Liki Tiki sight unseen and it was horrible. By looking at the website, the place looked great but then it was a dump and we ALMOST had changed our reservations for our whole stay luckily we were there only 4 days.
I keep trying to tell my husband that Vistana is just an older version of V.V and that it is clean and that they will not ignore you when you have a complaint. He is still nervous because he is the one that booked this one. I think it will be fine.

What are the best areas to stay at I know there are Lakes, Cascades, and Fountanins. Which is the newest?

You are right about this. Even though some of the areas may seem a little old---the decor/furnishings might be a bit dated, I've never encountered a dirty or rundown villa.
The areas, from newest to oldest are:
Cascades
Lakes
Fountains II
Fountains
Springs
Palms
Spas
Falls
Courts

I've either stayed in or toured all but the Springs. I stayed in the Spas once though I own in the Fountains I & II. Even though the decor felt a little 80'ish to me, all the kitchen appliances were brand new. Vistana is pretty good with basic upkeep and maintenance. If anything is wrong with your villa, just call maintenance or housekeeping and they will rectify the situation quickly.
The main Vistana is nice because there's more to do onsite. They have two small sit-down restaurants, a mini golf course (nothing hi tech), volley/basketabll & tennis courts and 7 pools.
How many people do you have in your party Bella ? Because even though the Cascades is the newest section, those villas are the smallest. It's most noticeable in the living/dining room area. Let me know if I can help any further.
