My daughter and I stayed in a Studio in April and we loved it. I'm looking forward to my stay there in September.

It's our home resort and we love it! We were there for a week in June :goodvibes

It's a beautiful resort, that I would be happy to stay at even if it wasn't at Disney World :thumbsup2 The pools are great, pool bars are great too ;) Love eating at Turf Club and Artist's Palette popcorn:: It's very relaxing at SSR, but there's also a lot to do (swimming, tennis, golf, surrey bikes, Community Hall)

If you have any specific question, ask away :goodvibes

We are DVC members and own at SSR. Our first trip home was in December. It was for 5 days thinking we wouldn't be spending much time at the resort and most of the time at the parks.

We are going back in August and we are scheduling a day just at the resort because there is so much you can do there.

I you read the SSR Owners/Lovers thread you mat just get a one sided opinion.
I am going to disney this summer and the only available units were at SSR (hmm???)> Luckily my wait list for OKW went thru.
I particularly did not like the Apartment setup of SSR. OKW to me felt more like a home with much bigger rooms. If I want to use the SSR pool I can just take my car or the short boat ride to SSR . DTD is also a short drive or a short boat ride from OKW.
If you are looking forward to a Hotel type accomodation at SSR you may be disappointed. But then again you may also like SSR. Give it a try if that is your only choice.

SSR is beautiful, we stayed in a 1bdrm and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are OKW and BW owners and were extremely pleased with the pool, villa and dining.

Don't stay at Grand Floridian then, its buildings are also setup in "apartment" style also.

SSR is one of our home resorts (the other is BCV). I was just there in January and going back at the end of July. Although, I prefer the overall theme and location of BCV, I also love the decor of SSR. While SAB at BCV is an amazing pool so is the pool at SSR. Also, my kids love community hall at SSR. We may go easy on the rides this trip when its really hot, but we will enjoy the pool at SSR.:cool1:

We stayed at SSR (in a studio) for the first time this past September. My kids and I loved it! We especially enjoyed the "movie at the pool" nights and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the community hall. We loved it so much that I decided to "add on" there a couple of months ago. Since we've become DVC members and use our most favorite perk (discounted annual pass), we've felt that we've been able to slow down a little bit on our trips and enjoy the resorts that we stay at more.

SSR is our Home resort as well. We love everything about it.:lovestruc

The grounds are gorgeous. The theming is really nice. I love the decor in the rooms. Our one bedroom in September was immaculate. The CM's are all very friendly. Our kids loved both the main pool and the themed pool in The Grandstand section. I had a few really good meals in the Artist's Palette.

Just for comparison, my husband and I went for three days in early June without the kids. We stayed at OKW just to give it a try and we were not pleased at all. We had a few problems. I kept telling my husband that if we were there for longer then two nights I would have done anything to switch to SSR. I thought the stairway set up of OKW was really weird.

I hope you have a great stay. We will be back at SSR in December and we can't wait!!

Our family prefers SSR, as they like being close to DTD.

Love it, love it, love it! DD and I are going next week for a "no parks" trip. We
plan to hang around the pool and DTD and anything else we can think of. You
will have a blast. Enjoy! :goodvibes  :cloud9:

We love it!!! :yay: Great resort! Love the dining options at Artist's Palette and Turf Club. Love the walk to DTD and all of the shopping and dining options there as well. Lots of activities and nice pools. Very happy that SSR is our home resort! Have a wonderful time on your vacation!

My only drawback to staying there is how big the resort is. How long of a walk is it for everything? Do you have a separate bus stop for each section? What about the Main food court/shops, etc. is it a huge hike to everything?
Lesley

the first bus stop is Grandstand, the last bus stop is Springs.

Grandstand is to the right of main pool, front desk, restuarant, gift shop, spa, gym, community hall, etc.

spring is in front of it.

so just get on a bus.

There are seperate bus stops for each section, which can make it a much quicker walk back to your room than at BWV for example.

At a slow pace, from any of the sections you're probably a 5-10 minute walk to the Carriage House (main area where AP, and Turf Club are and main pool). I find walking through the resort to be very peaceful & relaxing :goodvibes

We just returned last week from our first stay and loved it. We stayed in Congress Park and would recommend it. Close walk to DTD, nice pool right out the back of our building and a short walk to the main pool and spa area. It gives you more options in transportation as you can take a bus to or from DTD or SSR. We watched the fireworks from the Poly beach then grabbed a bus from the Poly to DTD and walked back to the room, very convenient.

There is a map that has GPS distances from different areas of SSR made by Caskill. If you stay in the Springs section, it is next to the Carriage House/main pool/Artist Palette/Turf Club/Community Hall. We walked the resort last year and the longest walk was from Carousel about 1/2 mile. We're hoping to stay in Congress Park in 3 weeks, my DH is looking forward to his morning walk to Artist Palette with his mug. We don't think the walk is any different than being at the Poly and walking to the Wedding Pavilion or TTC.

We own there as well. I loved the resort, and found it very relaxing. We had a water view overlooking one of the ponds, and I loved spending quiet time on our balcony watching all of the birds.
Dh doesn't love it as much. He prefers the hotel feel of BWV and the activity of the boardwalk.
DDs love the pool at SSR the best. It is great for little ones with the zero depth entry, and it's nice that you can grab a quick (good) meal at AP and take it to the pool while the kids are swimming. Much easier than trying to find a quick bite at BWV.
We have also stayed at OKW, and love it there as well. I like laid back feel of OKW with Jimmy Buffet music playing in the background.
We would be happy to stay at any of the DVC resorts, and can't wait to try them all.
You'll love SSR.
