I am looking for a mini video camera for our trip to WDW and came across this on E-Bay. Does anyone have one of these or have you seen one? Any input would be much appreciated.

Do you know the manufacturer? It looks like it came from eBay. Do you remember the item number?

From what I'm reading, it appears to me like a digital camera with MPEG recording abilities. MPEG recording means that the video will record directly to the SD card, not tape. With a 32 MB card, it will fill up very quickly with video. I don't really see a place where a DV tape can go into. With camcorders that are fairly small, there's usually a buldge in the side that accepts the tape.

You might be better off in investing in a mini DV camcorder with digital camera capabilities. The tapes can hold 60-90 minutes worth of video. The digital pictures are shot on a memory stick, SD, or CF card media.

Thanks for the info Barry. There are a bunch of these cameras listed on E-Bay right now and they say they retail for $299. Of course they are listed much much cheaper. None of the listings say the manufacturer. Also, it doesn't have a tape, just plugs into your computer and you transfer the video. I think it says it can record 45 minutes of video. DH always brings his laptop  with him so I figured we would just transfer each night. I also read the feedback and a lot of people seem to be happy with them. Hmmm. I'll look into the mini DV camcorders too.

E-Bay Item number: 3829711307

I'd stay away from this one. It's made by one of those Taiwanese companies - can't remember which one.

But anywho, they're cheaply made, the lens isn't of good quality, the picture quality is crappy too, and like Barry says, since you can't record to mini-DV tapes, what good is it. You'd have to get at least a 512mb card for anything decent (if you can even swap cards).

There are plenty of mini-DVs out there that aren't that expensive anymore and much better quality.
