I am planning for a summer 2012(July 19th through 27th) trip and after reviewing all of our options we still really just want to stay in a regular resort room. Since we are a family of 6 we need 2 rooms. As much as I want to book this I am really concerned that the rooms won't be adjoining. I don't want part of my family across the hall. So I guess I would just love to know if you have had success with adjoining. We will probably choose GF, Poly or BC and possibly split staying at Coronado. I haven't worked out the details but it will be a combination monorail and off monorail.

Thanks so much for any input!

In disneyspeak I believe 'adjoining' rooms means rooms near each other. If you want rooms with a door between them so you can go from one to the other the magic word would be connecting. I requested and received connecting rooms at POFQ in 9/09, and connecting rooms at the Poly in 12/2009.

I think you mean connecting. Connecting is where you have a door to go between rooms and adjoining is just next to each other. Disney doesn't guarantee connecting rooms so you may or may not get one.

We have requested and received connecting rooms twice in the last 5 years, both times at BC.

We have requested and received connecting rooms twice at POP recently. We are a family of 6 with 4 (fairly) young kids, so they tell us that the connecting rooms are guaranteed. It's worked for us so far, but some others on the boards say that the guarantee is not really guaranteed :goodvibes

If you call to make the reservation you'll have to give the ages of the kids, but I would also definitely point out that you need connecting because of their ages. Even if you make the reservation online, I would still call to emphasize that point. I've requested connecting rooms for several clients who had 4 or more kids and they have always gotten them.

We requested at POR in got them. This time they joined our two room reservations so that they would know we need connecting rooms. She acted like she had to do something special to do it, so I would for sure ask.

Yes - "connecting rooms." We were there in '00 and requested connecting rooms at ASMovies. No problem. It was December, if that makes any difference.

We stayed in connecting rooms once in the Contemporary tower and again in the GF. We found out later that there are very few connecting rooms in the Contemporary, so when when we tried to go back we were told we probably would NOT get connectors. Since then we have started staying DVC in 2 room villas. Then we know we will be together and we get a washer and dryer too! :goodvibes

We have requested connecting rooms at POP twice and the WL once and got them each time. We are heading to POP in about a month and have once again requested connecting rooms. Hoping for the same outcome:thumbsup2

Had no problems getting a connecting room at POFQ. We have requested it for our trip next week.

to echo other posters, definitely request connecting not adjoining(we did that once and learned our mistake). We've asked for connecting several times over the years when traveling with Grandparents, aunt uncles etc. Alway at a Values (usually at All Start, once at POP) and never had a problem.

Our experiences have been 50/50 - first time we all booked together and checked in the same day, pretty early, and our request was met. That was during a slower time of year (late Sept- early Oct) but not dead by any means thanks to the overlap of free dining and the start of Food & Wine.

Second time my mother decided long after we'd booked to join us for only part of our trip, and the request wasn't met. I think that had at least as much to do with the phone CM I spoke with when booking her room, though, because the front desk at CBR wasn't seeing any "traveling with" notation on her reservation. The season also made a difference, I'm sure - my mom arrived on 12/18 and the resort was so full that they didn't even have her booked category available and ended up refunding the price difference.

We have never requested connecting rooms (we are just a family of four), but somehow we always get a connecting room every time we stay at CBR....perhaps they have a lot of them there.

We've had no problem getting connecting rooms at the Poly. My kids loved it, FYI.

We have requested connecting rooms 3 times, and got them 2 times. The one time we didn't receive them was at the Contemporary.

Ha! We are checking in to CSR on Sunday and I requested connecting rooms with my in-laws. I just had to double check that I put "connecting rooms" and I did! Phew!...now I just hope we get them so we can play some cards in one room after the boys go to sleep in the other! :thumbsup2

We requested and received adjoining rooms on out September trip. We are requesting joining rooms again. Hoping we receive them. pixiedust:

we have requested connecting rooms 8 times (all diff resorts value - deluxe) and gotten them 7 times. Last year was the first time we didn't but we were right across the hall from each other. I think we are luckier than others - we'll see how it goes this year.
