Have you or your child lost your key card?

Hi, I usually allow my 6 year old to carry his "own" key card. This year, however, our tickets will be on our key cards.

If I allow him to do this, what will they do if he were to loose it? Can they cancel the tickets on the card and reissue a new card?

Anyone ever lost your card?

Just wondering if I need to hold onto his card this time. Thanks!! :earsboy:

I let my 2 DDs (7 and 9) use their room keys when we enter a park and they take turns unlocking the door when we return to the resort. Other than that, mom or dad hang onto their key/tickets. We'd prefer not to have to find out what Disney would have to do for a lost key/ticket. (Plus they love to "torment" dad by dangling things over the moat, or over the rail on the boat or on a ride and ask what dad would do if they "accidentally" dropped it. I wonder if they are just trying to give dad a heart attack. :rotfl: )

Our friend who went with us a few years ago forgot to take her key off her tray after paying for a meal at the food court and tossed it in the trash. We could not find it so we went to the front desk and they canceled it and issued her a new one. I do not let my kids (8 & 11) keep their cards. They use them to get into the parks but I keep them after that. I don't want to have to take the time to have them reissued. It can be done though.

Have a great trip!!

We lost our 10 year old son's card on our trip in June. I think we must have dropped it while trying to get a fastpass. Anyway, all we had to do was go to guest services at MK and tell them what happened. They issued us a temporary ticket for the rest of the day and told us just to go to the front desk at our resort that evening and get a replacement. It was no problem at all.

I would not let my kids carry their key cards, even if they were old enough. All your credit card info goes on those magnetic strips and theives have now come up with the technology to remove it and use it.

Our daughter lost her card once, it was when she was off on her own. No problem, she took it upon herself to go to front desk and get a new card. They are numbered/tracked so they cancelled the old one and got her all set up with a new one.

No problem at all.

I just got back from a Royal Carribean Cruise to Alaska and they actually punched holes in the key cards. Now, this was to alert bartenders that they were underage to drink (my kids are only 9 and 6), but I saw a lot of kids wearing them around their necks. They had them attached to a lanyard with the cards hanging off of them. I thought this was a great idea Disney could us. People whose kids would like to carry a key card could just buy the lanyard for the kids to wear around their neck with the key card hanging off of it.
I wonder who I could write to suggest this.

LOL DH did not trust putting our cards room key park tickets and credit card all in one with our towels at TL so he decided to put them in the pocket of his swimming trunks and get in the wave pool at TL. GUESS WHO lost all our cards hehehehehe

Was not a problem tho just went back to the resort had those cards cancelled and new ones issued.

Side note about the credit card DD does not get charging on her card. We don't let her have plastic at home so not gonna give it to her on vacation either. She usually has some spending money of her own and she can ask us before she buys anything the same as she does at home.

As other posters have said, the front desk can quickly and easily replace your key. By replacing it, the tickets transfer and the old one is automatically voided. It's not a big deal at all; in fact, they do it all the time!If you leave charging ability off the kids cards, you can worry even less.

We had 3 and lost 1.... went to the front desk of the resort with the other 2 cards (so they'd know the number of the one we lost). They cancelled it and issued a new one immediately - no problem.

The room keys can be replaced IMMEDIATELY!! That's why I love them.

Your credit card information is NOT on your room key, it is in the computer at the resort.

Your credit card is not flashed all over WDW, and you don't need hardly any cash.

Also, my teen boys can purchase their meals, etc without being with us.

Yes, I have misplaced my room key/charge card on occasion. Imagine if that had been my credit card??!! At least 24 HOURS to replace, if not longer.
