Have you left negative feedback on ebay?

I sold some Disney collectables in the last month and everyone made quick payments except one person. She has promised payment on three occasions and finally (its been 2 weeks) I'm a little miffed. I know if I relist the item it will sell but still I have paid ebay the fees from it being won.

She only has 13 feedbacks but they are positive and I hate to leave negative feedback but then I hate to think of someone else not getting paid! If the person has a problem and had explained it then it would be different but just promising payment over and over??????

I would email the bidder and explain that you were hoping for a quick transaction and you would like payment promptly. There could be any number of reasons for slower payment, all of which I can understand as long as it's explained to you.

If, after she makes the payment you wish to make a comment, I would leave a positive feedback but indicate 'slow payment' or some such - but if the transaction was completed and you got the money you were looking for, IMHO it should be a positive feedback..

I had a non-paying bidder who I e-mailed several times over the month & heard nothing. I was waiting for a negative feedback retaliation, but never got one. It was like the bidder fell off the face of the earth! Try very hard to resolve the problem first, but if nothing, then you have to.

Its been two weeks and no payment with 3 promises to pay. I just emailed her and said I could understand if payment is late but I have to know something or I will be forced to leave negative feedback. Hope she gets back to me.

I have planned to, but the person usually was dropped by eBay by the time I got around to it. IMO 2 weeks is too soon to leave negative feedback. I only leave negative feedback if the transaction doesn't go through at all.

Have you filed a non-paying bidder alert with eBay? I usually get payment when I do that.

If I don't get payment after doing that then I do request a refund from eBay and plan to leave negative feedback at the LAST possible date. This gives the bidder little time to leave retailiatory negative feedback. 99% of the time the person has been booted off of eBay by the time this date comes around.

If I have to go through many steps to get payment, then I might leave neutral feedback at the last possible moment or leave positive feedback with a very neutral message.

It's unfortunate but I really try to protect my feedback and sometimes that means I can't be as harsh as I'm tempted to be with someone else's feedback.

Won't ebay refund your fees if the buyer never actually completes the transaction? I would check with their FAQ.

Yes, they will. The first step in the process is to file a non-paying bidder alert.

Only once. It was for a Seller. He had advertised for a Brand New, 100% Wool Men's Tuxedo (coat and pants). It was advertised as a 38 coat and pants.

The first pair of pants that came with the tux were clearly NOT a matching pair of pants to the tux! Paper thin and really awful! Notified the Seller and he told me to send back (my S&H costs) and he would send a different pair.

The second pair of pants was a better quality and matched the black jacket, but the pants were NO WAY a size 38. In fact, we measured with a tape measure and they were not even a 36! My DH could barely get them closed.

Notified the Seller again, and he wanted me to send those back to (at my cost again) and he would send a 3rd pair. He said if the 3rd pair was not satisfactory, I should return the whole tux. Well, my DH was very happy with the jacket. So, we did NOT return the 2nd pair of pants and we ended up having to purchase a brand new pair of tux pants online somewhere else and they were terrific with the jacket.

I left negative feedback about the Seller, because he falsely represented the pants from the start.

They sure will! I've had to go that route in the past. I sold a computer to someone with a 0 feedback for around $300 and stated in the auction that payment was expected in 7 days. I sent email after email for 2 weeks and got no response. Filed a non-paying bidder form with ebay, sent the guy an email and told him what was coming and not to worry about sending the money (obviously he wasn't) and that negative feedback was left. It was a couple of days after that that he sent a nasty message back telling me how it was people like me who were responsible for the downfall of society and he was getting a lawyer and going to sue the pants off of me! I've still got that email, actually. He also said he had been on vacation for 2 weeks, so he wasn't at a computer and couldn't pay. He bought the item using the 'Buy it Now' feature, so how come he couldn't hop over to paypal and make payment as soon as he bought it? He declined to answer that question! So far it's been a year now and no lawsuit...boy was I worried about that! The last time I looked, the idiot had a -3 feedback, so he's probably been kicked off ebay since then.

I think it was someone who was selling a similar computer who made up a screen name and used the Buy it Now on any other computer that resembled his (less competition that way). The other negative feedbacks he had were from people listing similar computer systems. It was a good scam, but I wound up selling the computer to someone at work for $50 more!:) Worked out great for me.

Thankfully we have never been in that position. We have always had good luck buying and occassionally selling.

However, I have felt at times like leaving DH negative feedback. He is always finding things to buy and I keep telling him to make sure he reads the ENTIRE listing to make sure that he is getting the correct thing and that we can pay for it in the manner stated by the seller. Just the other day he won an auction and told me that I needed to go to Paypal and pay for it. OK so I go back to the listing to verify the amount and shipping costs, etc. when I find out that this particular seller only takes money orders/cashiers checks unless the total is over $10.00 then they will accept Paypal. This is a Disney pin he won for $1.99. I prefer to pay with Paypal because I hate having to deal with MOs, etc. DH just skimmed the post and saw Paypal and didn't bother to read the rest. So now we have to deal with the hassle and cost of getting a money order and mail it out. Ugh!!!

you might want to let this one ride if the item in question is not a high $ item, you don't want a negative feedback in retaliation, you can go block this bidder from purchasing future items from you, just go to the site map and follow the instructions.:jester:

I can't imagine anyone not paying for something bid on. I just do not understand why even bid if you aren't going to pay. If suddenly something comes up, then an explanation is in order, and something worked out. Seem like there are to many people who think they can either get something for nothing, or cost people money. Things like that happen on the exchanges and trading stuff on the collectibles board too. I just do not understand it :( I do not know if leaving a negative feedback will work against you, but there were some good suggestions like blocking the person.

I've only left one negitive feedback in the entire time that I've used ebay and that was for a seller. The seller had requested to contact him for the exact shipping amount so I sent him an email as soon as the auction ended...two weeks later I still had not heard from him. This person had mostly negtive feedback left, but I was hoping I could still get the item from him. After two weeks, they guy had the nerve to send me an email telling me he was going to leave ME negitive feedback for not paying. I sent him an email back telling him that I had read all of his negtive feedback and I wasn't about to send him any money until I had heard from him and on top of that, he had never given me a shipping amount. A lot of his negtive feedback were people that didn't get their product for weeks and some were still waiting for it after MONTHS. So after I sent him that email I STILL never heard back from him. I left my negitive feedback and he didn't leave any feedback for me.

I hate leaving negative feedback, but I had to once. I was selling an antique car on Ebay, and the bidder told me after he won that "he was inexperienced in bidding & didn't really want the car"... That was $3,500 I needed. So I left negative feedback.

Me, too!! I have let the seller know privately that I'm very dissatisfied though. It's not usually about the product tho, it's the overinflated shipping. Sellers charge Priority rates but, ship media or first class. Bugs me to no end! I will NOT ruin my rating tho by giving a negative only to get a negative RETALIATORY remark! (been there, done that!)

So, I usually leave the negatives to private emails. :( I'm a wimp.

Altho, I've also had experiences with sellers I've bought from before and, they are MORE than happy to resolve problems! I have actually refused replacements because, it wasn't the sellers fault! Maybe I'm just a GOOD buyer! ;)

When necessary tho, don't hesitate, imo.

It's by this means that we know the kind of seller/buyer we're dealing with!

Did it once won't ever do it again. Ebay will give the spiel that you owe it to the Ebay community yada yada but after what I went through it is just not worth it.

I was the seller and the buyer was sending me crazy e-mails on why they wouldn't pay. I told them they needed to pay or get negged and they sent me a flaming e-mail back. I went ahead with the negative and within 10 minutes the loser negged me back lying and saying they paid and I never sent the item. Then I had one auction left running and the joker went in and did a buy it now and within 3 minutes of doing that they left me another negative.

I had to jump through major hoops to get Ebay to take off those negatives because they don't want to get involved usually. This particular person started negging everybody he had bid from so they did actually do something about it. I also had all the nasty e-mails that they had sent so that helped too.

I would be more willing to give someone who deserved it a negative if Ebay would do something about the retalliation feedback. Until then I won't stick my neck out again...my feedback is too important to me.

I do have one neg from a newbie who never even contacted me to say she had a problem. It was a pink Dora shirt my dd wore 1 time and it was washed on cold. The buyer claimed the shirt was grey (not unless it fell out onto the ground during shipping) and that the 5T shirt did not fit her 3T kid. Basically a case of buyer remorse. I was pretty miffed by the neg but she did actually put in a nice update once she finally contacted me. I told her in the future she should always contact her seller first as feedback is very important to us sellers.
