Have you Heard !! Special Discount comming

Can you get the CAA discount if the card is not in your name? One of my close family members is a CAA member, can we just have them book the rooms for us? Saving 20% sounds like such a good deal!

Has anyone calculated the cost savings of renting a value resort room for 1 week, using the CAA (minus the cost of the CAA membership purchase)?

We are staying at POP for 8 nights ( 7 being value season (Jan 1 - 8), 1 being holiday season Dec 31 no discounts that night)
7 nights regular value price = $77 per night plus 11.5 % tax = $85.86 per night
For 7 nights = $600.99

7 night with CAA discount (20% off) = $70.25 per night including the tax
For 7 nights = $491.75
Saving = $109.24
Cost of CAA membership (cheapest CAA membership is the a la carte membership which is only for hotel etc discounts, does include roadside assistance is $32 plus sign up fee of $15) = $47
therefore $109.24 - $47 = $62 savings total
pair that with buying yur tickets from one of the reputable places off site and it doesnt't add up to much but every little bit helps I guess

I'm pretty sure it has to be in your name, since you have to show the card at check in. Would the close family member be coming with you?

Calgarygary, I thought about getting 1 day tickets to get in on the dining but dh didn't think that in our particular case it would not be worthwhile. And for several reasons, I'd have to agree with him.

Mortlives, a CAA membership discount didn't even enter my mind. I will look into it immediately to see if it will help us.

Thanks for your advice. You guys are terrific. I love the DIS. :goodvibes

The special is on Mousesavers now and it is anything exciting as far as I'm concerned not to mention the fact I wanna go in February. :earseek:

Hi there. If it's not "free" dining, I doubt that it will be any good for DH and I, as we already have AP's and getting a CAA discount on my room only. I will call them just to check it out, but I'm not figuring on anything lucrative.

Maryliz, can you please let us know how you make out? Someone is posting over on codes and rates that they got free dining. There are TONS of posts about these 3 new codes [room only, package, package with dining] over on codes and rates (way too much for me to keep up with).
We are not going until Dec 31 but I am trying to keep an eye on this in hopes something might follow for early January!!!!

Thanks
Suzy

We didn't have to show our card, but maybe that was because we booked our trip in person at our CAA office???

:Pinkbounc I am so excited. I think I'm going to get a room discount. Just waiting for Dreams Unlimited to confirm.

The flat rate discount for us would be $65/day for AKL. That would be a 27% discount, better than CAA at 20%. Mousesavers says virtually no availability for Nov.5-13, but we are going from Nov. 16-23. Can we be so lucky?!? I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

I called last night, but I got a CM who really didn't know what she was doing. She pulled up the same 3 nights, put in the code I got for MYW plus dining, and came up with $809 US for the 2 of us :earseek: My room only is only $207 and we already have AP's so I doubt that we'd eat $600 worth of food! :rotfl: I asked her if she could do the package with only a one day base MYW ticket so that we'd still get the dining but she said "she didn't think so" I tried to call right back but it was really busy so I just hung up.

I asked her if it appeared that the dining was free, and she again "didn't think so".

disney funseeker ... congrats on your room discount at AKL ! :bounce:

I just got an email from my DU agent that she was able to get a discount on my Dad's reservation at CSR the week of Dec. 2-11 (not sure how she did it since that week's blocked out by my info) but she saved him over $400 US! She wasn't able to get a discount on my reservation at ASMovies but will keep checking. She had offered me a chance to switch/upgrade to CBR to get a discount there (only about $300 more than what I'm paying for Value) but I decided not to as DS8 has his heart set on ASMusic.

Still, Dad's discount works out to about $475 Canadian so now he can spend some of the money he saved on buying drinks for his clever daughter! :rotfl:
