Have you heard of splenic marginal zone lymphoma?

Hello,

My mom just got diagnosed with splenic marginal zone lymphoma I wondered if anyone has ever heard of it, had any experiences with it?

It is a very rare type of lymphoma & basically they told her that it has no cure & they cannot do anything for her until she starts showing physical symptoms (she has none as of now). Then, they can do chemo to help, but not cure.

I cannot find much info on this, so I thought I would see if anyone on here knows anything about this & it's prognosis.

I'm so sad and scared for my mom.

I'm sorry your Mom is going through this. The good news is it's probably not as bad as you fear.

I checked over on the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's board and it appears to be a slow moving indolent lymphoma.

Watch and wait, is very common with slow moving lymphomas. They could recommend removal of her spleen, or a drug like Rituxan.

You Mom could end up outliving the disease, or if symptoms appear, will get just enough treatment to keep it under control.
