Have you had cleanliness issues at VWL or BWV's?

After reading the posts, and seeing the pictures, about problems at BCV's I'm interested in your experiences at VWL and BWV's. These are the two DVC resorts where I'm thinking about buying points. What have your experiences been with how clean the units are, and are they in good shape?

You will find reports both good and bad for all of the DVC resorts. None of them is perfect.

We own at the BWV and I know there have been problems reported there. That said, I have personally stayed at the BWV (in various size units) once or twice a year since 2000. Have never had a problem with cleanliness in any of the rooms.

We own at both VWL and BWV, and have been fortunate to find our villas in excellent shape during every trip. Of course, our definition of excellent doesn't deduct points for nicks on furniture or walls, etc that any heavily used resort room will incur.

We think all DVC villas that we have stayed in have been well maintained. But when someone gets a room that is unacceptably dirty or poorly maintained, they often report it here....moreso than those who do get the expected high standards of room cleanliness. So it can appear that a resort is having issues when in fact it is not widespread.

I'm biased, but I think you will find either of your choices to be excellent over the course of your DVC ownership.

We own at both.
We have never had any problems at the WL - Our rooms have always been spotless.
Had recent problems at the BW. Dirty kitchen counters and a very sticky floor (you could tell it was spilled Coke.) Nothing that couldn't easily been cleaned up by us within a few minutes... it was just annoying that we had to do it upon check-in. We had other maintenance issues at BW, but that is an entirely different story.

I can only speak for VWL but we've never encountered any cleanliness issues on any of our visits. The rooms have always been very clean. We've been in a studio, a one bedroom, and a two bedroom. However in one room we had, the bottom of the bathroom door almost looked as if it had been scratched or chewed at, like a small dog had been locked in there .

We own at both VWL and BWV, and never had any cleanliness issues. I’ve never experienced any problems with an on-site DVC resort. We had one issue at VB that was quickly resolved.

We loved VWL however we did find dirty boxers in the drawer upon check in, and no starter pacs of soap. We called mousekeeping and they did bring the soap, but left the boxers. I also noticed that the floors needed a good mopping. Wont stop us from staying there again though.

We have stayed at VWL many many times and I think only 1 time the kitchen floor was kind of dirty. No biggy though. Of course I came right on the boards and reported it (NOT!). We stayed only one time at BCV and BWV and they were both clean, no issues.

We know that a number of the resorts are starting to age, and we have noticed a bit of neglect at the VB resort as to minor maintenance issues, but we have never experienced a cleanliness issue (as of yet) in any resort. We are going to HHI next and will report honestly. Thanks for you're info.

I'm the minority, there's a cloud of dirt/leftover food and garbage hanging over my head. Each time I've stayed at the BWV, I've had leftover food in the room. This past visit, was 'blessed' with used tampons, etc in the overflowing bathroom garbage can. I've also had a room where the bathroom was never cleaned and dirty towels all over!! That stay also had the kitchen garbage can full of garbage.
I've stayed at the BCV (once) and no problems. I don't complain about the 'knicks' in furniture, etc. I read all these posts about folks who get these clean rooms, and have decided it me!!!! I'm going in October, this is a biggie trip for us-husband, bro-in-law and sis all turning 60 and this is our trip together (Food and Wine trip too) to celebrate everyone's birthdays. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

YIKES! I can't imagine coming home to that! I hope you really reamed out the management. If I ever came home to overflowing bathroom garbage I would insist the GM come empty it his or herself. I am embarrased that you had to experience these situations. Not acceptable.

We have stayed many times at BWV and OKW, once at VWL and never had cleanliness issues in any room. Because mousekeepers are human beings, I would imagine we will eventually have a room that has been partially cleaned and then forgotten somehow, but when that time comes we will have it corrected and get on with the magic!

Used to own a cleaning business, force of habit for me to look in strange places for "cleanliness". One of the 1st place I check out is in the bathroom, floor behind the toilet...if it's clean, the unit is usually aok.

VWL - other than dust on bathroom door frame, only complaint was slight wear & tear & lumpy sofa bed.

BWV - absolutely no issues

Must say mouskeeping is extraordinary.

I would echo CarolMN's experience -- except that I've been staying at BWV's 1 Bdrm's 3-5 times per year since '00. During that time I have never personally experienced an issue.
