Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Update - chills ended for spouse (med and time took care of them in 8 hours) - aches still there, but he's up and around. I told him to have coffee now, while he stays non-nauseous, just so he doesn't compound his issues.

Day #3

Oldest Kid SAILED through both shots - she was a touch tired and had a little arm pain on Pfizer #2. That's it for BOTH shots:)...

Spouse finally had all symptoms break this morning, and is now just a little tired. No more meds needed and he could (and will) do a normal of activities today, except holding off on our walk til tomorrow (I already took it, so he wouldn't feel guilty).

My next 2 oldest, in the 12-15 camp, saw how easy their sis had the shots, and now want to get their own right now...

Long update for me about 26 or so hours in after 2nd dose. Not going to sugar coat this but not intended to make someone apprehensive about getting it either.

Me:
~Minor hot flashes about 30mins after but stopped within an hour (shorter duration this time around)
~Arm pain started much earlier at about 2hours in
~Fatigue set in about 7 1/2 hours in
~Intense nausea set in about 12 hours after shot, did throw up some. Tried some dried toast (which normally helps) but it neither helped nor hurt
~Chills set in about 12 hours in shortly after the nausea and I was a shivering, teeth-chattering mess for several hours. My body temp was in the process of rising at that time
~Fever of 100 started 13 hours in. The thermometer I use normally registers my body at normal body temp or below at around 97.8 or so so 100 starts to feel pretty bad for me
~Body aches started with headache, lower back, neck, and joints in general
~Fever of 102.3 14 hours in
~Went to sleep about 12:30am and woke up every hour til 8am mostly due to the nausea
~Threw up again 15 1/2 hours in and then again 19 hrs in
~Nausea mostly gone by 22 1/2 hours after 2nd dose (11 1/2 hours worth of intense nausea)
~Fever broke (for now) about 23 hours in (10 hours worth of a fever)
~Right now still feel quite achy, joints hurt and head hurts and my teeth hurt. When I'm nauseated taking pain meds tends to make it worse so I haven't taken any yet and right now I don't have anything in my stomach other than half a small pack of applesauce. Maybe in a bit I might take some ibuprofen we'll see.
~Arm pain is much better right now

Husband:
~Arm pain started much earlier around the same time as me.
~Started feeling achy with joints and head hurting and some chills about 13 hours in
~No fever
~Went to bed around the same time as me but woke up every 45mins because of the aches
~Arm pain is much better right now
~Still achy with joint pain

Both my husband and I said we felt this second shot more than the first. I know people have mentioned just chalking it up to different people giving it than the first time but my husband and I had different people do ours and we felt the same. Who knows. We both took naps just a bit ago. Today I have a feeling is going to be nap central lol just due to the lack of sleep both he and I got. My husband slept in the guest bedroom mostly because when I'm at my worst with illness it's better for him as I tend to keep him awake (although this time around he got little sleep). I def. made a tour of our bed sleeping in all sorts of weird spots (woke up this morning laying at the foot of the bed across the bottom part).

Sister-in-law who had a rougher first dose (the half of her body hurting, etc) so far only has arm pain and a headache. As far as we know she did not have covid previously. I don't know how her boyfriend is doing.

Will do another update in a day or two.

Pfizer shot #2 was at 5 yesterday. No side effects other than a sore arm. Let’s hope it stays that way.
Small update. I’m cold. I don’t have chills but I’m cold. Laying on the sofa under a blanket and the fire is on. I’m usually always warm so feeing cold is new to me.
I also don’t want to get off the couch. I’m not sleeping I just am extremely unmotivated to move.
Arm is less sore than thus morning though.

That sounds really awful I hope you feel much better soon.

That is how I was, I never had the chills but I was so cold and could not get warm. I read that chills were a common side effect but nobody I know got chills but a lot of them were just cold.

I get my second dose in 1 week. I am really hoping for more mild side effects than my first.

Did you have any side effects from the first shot? I posted above that I just had my first shot about 4 hours ago and I feel nothing, not even a sore arm. I am getting skeptical that she didn't get all the vaccine in me or something.

That's my fear for my second. I literally had nothing.

I'm 3 hours post Pfizer #2. So far doing well - no arm pain. I am a little sleepy, but I think that has a lot more to do with a very long week and not sleeping well all week. I'm in a meeting until 4pm today, so hopefully I can make it through all of it. Don't have anything planned the rest of today or tomorrow, just in case.

Drinking my Pedialyte now, lol.

Yeah but it was really minor. Sore arm that go progressively worse as the day went on, hurt fairly good at bedtime but by morning was better, a slight headache for a tiny bit right after and then I had hot flashes for several hours afterwards, never got chilled with the hot flashes just overly heated every so often. My husband mostly had the sore arm and that was about it.

The news tends to focus on side effects and I think that's because they want to make sure people understand that it can be expected as these vaccines seem, at least to me, to have more incident rates of them in comparison to ones we may be more used to. When I got my flu shot in October 2020 all I had really was a sore arm. But the news also needs to focus on what one should think if you don't have side effects and some stories do call attention to this. Side effects can take a bit to come on as well, a DISer friend didn't have much until about 40 hours later. But I really wouldn't worry about it y'all as far as do you or don't you have protection :flower3: You're not alone if you don't have side effects.

Just got the first one with my wife. They have Moderna and I was automatically rescheduled for 4 weeks for the second dose. The note with the type, lot number, and location wasn’t hand written. It was on a pressure sensitive label stuck on the card. I was asked to write down my own name and DOB.

I'm just curious, why Aug? (Instead of in a few weeks.)

Vaccine shortages. Canada doesn’t make the vaccines so we have to rely on shipments from other countries.

Second vaccines of Pfizer and Moderna are currently scheduled 16 weeks after the first shot.

The goal around here is to get as many first shots into people as possible.
You feel really lucky just to get a first appointment. They’re hard to come by.

I didn’t have a sore arm until the next day with shot one.

With shot two, my arm was sore in a few hours. I didn’t get any other bad side effects but about 36 hours after I didn’t feel quite right. I compared it to the feeling you have the day before you get a bad cold or the flu. You know something is up, but it’s not bad enough to take any meds. It was almost a headache, almost nauseous, a little tired, and it hit me right about bedtime. I slept for about 12 hours and when I woke up, my arm was no longer sore and the other feelings were gone.
