My daughter and SIL got their 2nd doses on Friday. They work in the same hospital and excited they are better protected now.

I will get one as soon as teachers are eligible.

Because I am on oral chemo. I would have to stop the chemo for a few weeks.

I know it’s been repeated. But, seems worth repeating here.
You could still get infected with the virus even with the vaccine.

And this vaccine will not have an effect on 5% of the population.

Not true. Even the ones that contracted Covid had a less severe case. Not a single person who received either mRNA died from Covid.

My mom (a teacher in Ohio) as of Friday has not heard anything about the vaccine. But if they can't go during the day or have someone come to the schools I am not sure how they will get them all done in a timely manner. As of right now her school is hybrid.

Ummmmm...maybe like everyone else in my area of Ohio. You go outside of work hours or take the time off. Schools aren’t requiring it, so they aren’t required to offer time for it.

Talked to the in-laws the other day...told them "hey did you hear the governor upped you on the priority list" (they are both over 65)...crickets.."no we hadn't heard it, haven't really been thinking about it (as in the vaccine)". Mother-in-law needs to discuss with her doctor because she's on prednisone and for the flu vaccine (and any vaccine really) they do not recommend you get it if you're on that drug so she needs to discuss that with her doctor before blindly signing up (when she's able to). It's possible because the drug can inhibit your immune system she'll have to bypass the vaccine at this time or choose to get off the drug depending on the repercussions of doing that.

But for reals my in-laws the ones everyone is in such a hurry to be protected (because of their age group) don't even have a clue nor much interest in keeping up with the news. My husband and I shared a look. Love them of course but if desire and itch to get a vaccine meant more than age or underlying conditions we'd beat mother-in-law and her husband by a mile

My husband is a teacher in Ohio, and this morning, the superintendent sent out a link for teachers to fill in their scheduling preferences for getting the vaccine. They aren't allowed to do it during school hours, so I'm not sure how he expects the entire staff to be vaccinated before he wants the district to have *all* students return in mid-February...?

It's probably because they are on the clock and the vaccine isn't, at least from what I've heard from other places, being administered yet at places of business so they'd have to leave work (or not be available if doing remote teaching for those with school back in session or will be in session when teachers are up for vaccination).

Plus with the side effects they've, from the beginning, advised 1 to 2 days off work afterwards, it's one of the main reasons they have mostly chosen to stagger the health care workers (which of course slows down an entire place having the employees they choose to get vaccinated).

I don’t know if this is still related to the vaccine but yesterday I remained with a dull headache all day. No pounding. Just a dull achy headache. Ibuprofen and Tylenol cleared it up. I still have it this morning.

I also woke up twice last night completely drenched in sweat. No exaggeration when I say my shirt was drenched twice. When I checked my shirts this morning they were still soaking wet. My sheets had to be changed twice. My hair was soaked and I have a lot of hair. I’m young. This isn’t “the change.” Lol. It freaked me out a bit. My SO was a bit worried too. Especially since I had to wake him up twice to change sheets.

ETA: I’ve been checking my temp through this all and no fever. I’ve been under 99. Even on Saturday night when I had the chills.

That’s from the Tylenol and Motrin. They are anti-pyretics and that’s how they lower your temperature, via sweat, especially when under covers. It happens in the hospital a lot, too, and does freak people out.

I constantly checked my temperature and I never ran a fever. I didn’t have any chills last night and no fever and didn’t even feel like I had a fever. I also didn’t have a fever when I had bad chills Saturday night. I don’t remember if I took Motrin of Tylenol before bed last night. I’ve sweated out a fever before but it was nothing like this.

Both hospitals I work for are doing the Moderna vaccine since the storage and handing of the Pfitzer one was too complicated. I give the vaccine to staff and after reading all the information I'm hesitant for many populations. If your immuncompromised, breastfeeding, pregnant my opinion is wait until its FDA approved and more studies have been done. The literature we give people getting the vaccine is a small book, not the usual 1 page information. Also after getting the vaccine you have to be in a room with someone who has a epi pen available in cause of reactions. There still isn't alot known about complications, long term affects, and there have been some deaths associated with the vaccine. Talk to your doctor, read the information and know facts. Everyone should be educated before making any decisions.

It has been in the news if you look it up. A recent one is a 56 year old OBGYN doctor who's complication after receiving the vaccine was a stroke and died. That one is actively still being investigated but it's not the first. All vaccines have risks associated with them. The difference is this one is not FDA approved, not many studies done yet, and no known long term complications known. Thank goodness you can't give it to anyone under 18 as I'm sure the schools would then be pushing for children to be vaccinated.

I was surprised when my BFF told me that her daughter in law who is due in June just got the vaccine. Because the vaccine is so new I just would have been more concerned but that's my honest opinion.

I know.....that's why I was way surprised. Her DIL is due early June.

As a pediatric nurse of more than 20 years I can say alot of my coworkers are against pregnant women getting it but it's just our concern and opinions. What if it causes birth defects, sterility problems etc...? But physicians are pushing the vaccine and the media is pushing it due to people being so scared of the virus. I give the vaccine at work as my job, and I never tell people to get it or not, I just advise they do their research prior to getting it. The longer it's out the more we will learn about it. Right now it's new and the unknow is what I'm afraid of.

Some OBGYN are saving it safe but the FDA says to ask them. That means it's going my a individuals opinion. No one knows if it's truly safe, will cause any long term complications.

My mom got her second does on Friday and had no major side effects. She reported some mild fatigue and headache on Sunday but that's all. My brother gets his second does tonight at work.
