Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I think this thread can be really interesting and informative if we can keep it focused. Lots of other threads where you can discuss the vaccine in general!

Just saw a tweet that vaccines have started for health care providers in New York! Pretty awesome and amazing.

ETA the link to the live shot (ha, shot) of the NY vaccine:

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about it, or didn’t have concerns, etc.

But I feel like I’d rather take my chances with the vaccine than with Covid.

From what I’ve read and from what we’re being told, there is about a 25% chance we will have symptoms that could be pretty severe but should only last about 24 hrs. They’ve asked that we get the vaccine during a time when we’re off for a few days, so we don’t have to call in sick, if possible. Timing’s a little difficult with the holiday approaching and such, but I think it’s important to jump right in when I can, so I’ll be paying attention to scheduling this week.

I’m going to ask that those of you who pray, please pray for us frontline healthcare workers who are getting this now, that we all do ok with it, and that we can get back to taking care of our patients asap! 🙏🏻 Amen! And thank you! ❤️

My BIL will get one next week he is frontline, My DD could get one before the end of the year she is a Nursing Asst. while in college. We are hoping my other BIL's sister & BIL gets one this week they are both Frontline and in a high area. They keep us updated and have said they will let us know when they are and if they have any side effects.

Great idea for a thread!

I confess I have a little vaccine envy going right now but I'm very happy for those who can get it--I know they have a bigger need.
I know what you mean, I have the same, but I am thankful for the ones that get vaccinated, just as I am grateful for the study volunteers. As time goes on, and people get more comfortable after seeing how the first groups who are vaccinated do, I am hopeful more people will opt in when eligible.

Prayers headed your way! Please stay safe! Thank YOU and all the frontline workers!

I have an appointment to get mine on Sunday! I was invited by our state department of health because I am a licensed provider. The hospital network extended that invitation to non-licensed personnel as well. I'll be getting the pfizer vaccine.

A day or 2 of mild fever and aches is preferable to getting covid, no contest. I have zero reservations about the safety of this vaccine. I do have concerns about whether it will work for me. I am on an extremely immunosuppressive therapy for my MS, so the question remains as to whether my T cells and B cells are sufficient to respond to the vaccine. Still, it's worth a try because without it, there's no question that I am vulnerable.

This is the order it's been given in the UK. I'm an NHS nurse and our Trust has taken delivery of the vaccine, but I haven't heard when it will happen yet:

Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
– All those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
– All those 75 years of age and over
– All those 70 years of age and over and people deemed to be clinically extremely vulnerable
– All those 65 years of age and over
– All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
– All those 60 years of age and over
– All those 55 years of age and over
– All those 50 years of age and over.

Priority in Florida is Healthcare providers (especially Nursing Homes and other Long Term Care) and Residents of Long Term Care.

I'm pretty sure I'll be one of the last ones to get it (mid-30s with no pre-existing conditions, and I can work remotely), but I'm so excited to just see this thread started. :yay:

I'm in Ohio and the governor tweeted that frontline workers at OSU Wexner Medical Center and University of Cincinnati Medical center were vaccinated today. Eight other locations start vaccinations tomorrow. :yay: :yay:

My hospital will receive enough vaccines for all employees. The shipment arrives today and vaccines start tomorrow. It’s on a voluntary basis. I haven’t signed up yet. I don’t think I want to be one of the first ones to get it.
Are you allowed to get one since you’ve already had covid?
