Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

It's so interesting reading how different everyone's side effects are. One thing I've wondered is you know how there have been studies over the past year that people with type O blood are less likely to get Covid or at least have less severe symptoms? I wonder if the side effects to these vaccines have the same correlation? :scratchin I'm sure staying rested and hydrated will help, but reading the posts on here, it all seems so random....maybe it is just luck.

We all have type O blood here and we all reacted a little differently.
I had the worst and the longest out of anyone. I had the soreness, terrible headache, couldn't get warm and was tired. I got my shot Sat and it took until Wednesday to feel normal again.
My dh had arm soreness and a bad headache the next day, my one ds had arm soreness and the next day was really tired. My other ds didn't really have any and my dd had a really sore arm but that was all.

There have been two recent studies that actually found no correlation between blood type and risk/severity of COVID.

This will deal a blow to the vaccine roll out definitely. Here in NY they were planning to use this for the college kids so that they could be immunized before returning home. My husband works at a college where they have been administering the J&J. Both of my sons received the shot. The one is 3 weeks past administering and the other is at the 1 week time frame.
My son’s college was planning the same. He found an appointment to get the first dose of Moderna on his own yesterday and told me this morning that he was really glad that he didn’t wait for the university.
His arm was/is sore to the point of annoying him in his sleep, but that’s all. I’m hoping he doesn’t react too badly to the second dose since it’s right before finals.

I have A+ blood. I am in that category where I'm statistically more likely to have severe covid. I had basically no side effects other than sore arm and very minor fatigue after both Pfizer vaccines. My husband has the same blood type. He had no side effects at all, not even a sore arm.

So, my 16 year old looked SO tired this morning at breakfast and when I asked him how he felt, he screwed up his face and kind of moaned (he is autistic and this is what he does when he isn't feeling well). He had a 99.5 forehead temp. He was supposed to go to school in person today, but I told him he was staying home. He ate breakfast and gladly got back into bed. I'm guessing he will sleep for a few more hours and wake up feeling fine later. We shall see. 99.5 isn't a fever, per se, but he tends to run low on the forehead scanner so 99.5 is a notable increase for him. He was right around 98 all day yesterday. I asked him about other symptoms, and he isn't generally good about explaining how he feels, but I explicitly asked if he had a headache (no), sore arms or legs (yes, sore vaccine arm), or felt cold (no).

Second dose of Pfizer on Saturday morning. I took a long late afternoon nap but I hadn't slept well the night before. Saturday night felt sore, headache, exhausted. Spent Sunday in bed all day (slept almost 20 hours) with a low grade fever, still running low grade fever on Monday but more awake. Today (Tuesday) I woke up feeling 100% fine. Happy to be vaccinated.

You probably are aware already, but temporal thermometer is the least accurate. (Well, non-contact temporal even worse than contact temporal). Generally, temporal gives readings ~2 degrees lower. This is from medical doctors.

A friend of mine once thought their son had a low-grade fever using a temporal thermometer. For days she had him at home and then finally went to UC. The office recorded his temperature to be 2.5 degrees higher than what their temporal thermometer was reading.

Hope he starts feeling better.

DH is type O and handled his two Pfizer’s better than I did. But also women in general tend to have more side effects than men with the vaccines, so who knows. The whole blood type thing is interesting. They have also seen similar things to blood type and Norovirus (stomach bug)... certain blood types are more resistant to it (unfortunately that doesn’t include me😆)

We have the older style exergen temporal scanner that requires contact and a seal between the skin and sensor. From my experience on me, it runs high, but I followed up with a standard thermometer on my son and the reading was 99.2, so pretty close.

Got my second Pfizer dose at Meijer this morning! Unlike last time, there was no line at all, I got there at 9:40 for a 10:00 appointment and they just whisked me right on through! There weren't very many people there, unlike last time, maybe because they weren't being rigid about appointment times, they just sent you through as soon as you showed up.

So far all I have is a sore arm, but I'm working from home in case it hits me like a ton of bricks!

I got my second dose of Pfizer this morning at 8:30. Just waiting for something to hit me. Now I'm being anxious that "maybe nothing was in my shot."

So of course, I got a brand new vaccinator! I could tell she was kind of bumbling around and a supervisor came over to help her. I said "Is this your FIRST day?" (in a nice way) and the supervisor said, "well this is her first day here, but it's not her first day being a nurse." When she sat down to give me the vaccine, the supervisor said to her "Her arm is tiny so I want you to grab some of her arm and then do the shot." I've never had anyone do that. I only marginally felt it, versus last time where I got a twinge and, I swear, I could feel every drop of liquid go in. On my first dose I got a mild sore arm within a few hours.

For this dose, so far, I have nothing. Of course now I'm thinking "did she do the vaccine right, was there anything in it." Sometimes I really hate my anxiety.

I also got my 2nd dose Pfizer 2 hours ago - went and took a 2.5 mile walk after (this is my normal walk length and time, and I felt good, so I took it). I didn't even feel the 2nd shot go in, so I circled my arm a few times during my 15 minute wait to get it moving. I was gonna take an Ibu, but have decided to pass til I have any side effects.

Right now, I feel pain in my arm at about .1 on a 1-10 scale and that's it...I'm expecting it to hit me when I go to bed, so I may take a "just in case" med then if nothing affects me before that...

I did buy 2 rotisserie chickens and bakery soft pretzel bites from Wegman's for dinner while there - figure I'll combine 2-3 fruits into a salad, and give myself no work tonight and a very bland, anti-inflammatory meal (since I'll keep my pretzel intake low:))...

DS had his 2nd Pfizer shot Friday. DH & I had our second Pfizer shot yesterday at 1:00. So far, none of us have had any side effects not even a sore arm. FWIW, none of us exercised prior to being vaccinated. We all consumed our normal amound of liquid. It's really bizarre that some people have major side effects & some don't have any. We're the only people in our family that had the Pfizer vaccine. Some of our family members who had Moderna had some serious side effects, but I'm not sure that means anything either. It really does seem to come down to luck.

You'll have to post back as the second subject in my "2 1/2 mile walk" study. Good luck with it!

We have the same one and find it also reads slightly higher than a standard thermometer. I think it's important to know how our individual ones run and then we can make accurate judgments.

Those contactless ones are pointless and it frustrates me that we use them. It was so cold out at school this morning, it registered my daughter at 91.4 (we do take it at home as well before we even go). It always makes me nervous when somebody read 99 on it because they're so off!

For anybody who's following along, DD17 woke up this morning feeling fine after a very rough Monday. Which is good because DH is getting his second dose as we speak.
