I have been doing Atkins for almost 4 weeks. It has been great :bounce: :bounce:

I have lost 13 pounds and not having trouble sticking with it. I am a true sugarholic, loving all desserts. Now here is the funny part. I am finding that not only do I not crave sweets anymore but when I sweeten my tea or coffee, I need much less of the sweetner.

Has this happened to you??? And what other "symptoms" or side effects have you gotten while on your diet program? I consider this a wonderful side effect.
 
Just wanted to congradulate you on your loss susan. Welcome to the board grab a clippee so you can start to fatten it up as you slim down. I am not doing atkins i'm doing a controled portion plan of my own so maybe someone will chime in with thoughts for you.
 
Hi Susan. Where's your member clipart? You aren't ashamed to be associated with us are you?

I follow the Atkins way of eating and I love it. I was one of the lucky ones who had no withdrawal symptoms when I first began.

My favorite side effect is not being hungry and not having cravings. I just love ketosis.

It sounds like you are doing really well. Isn't it great to take control and get healthier? Weight loss is a pretty nice side effect, too :)

Congratulations on your loss, Susan!

Atkins has been very good to me so far as well and I am loving this new way to eat! As for the sugar, I notice that I don't use any at all now. I did have an odd experience last night that struck me as funny actually...I went out with my 2 SIL's for a couple of drinks and I ordered a glass of wine. When I had my first sip, my first though was, "Ick, this stuff is sickening"...it was so sweet to me that I couldn't even enjoy it at first. Then I got to thinking, it would taste different because I haven't had sugar in almost 3 weeks now! I drank one glass and that was it, I just couldn't handle the taste anymore! LOL
 

Congratulations, Susan! That is a great loss for 4 weeks. :) And congratulations on your changing tastebuds! ;) I am not doing Atkins, but I have cut back on sugary foods and now when I do have something sweet, it tastes REALLY sweet to me! When I was a sugarholic, fruits didn't taste very interesting to me. Now that I am mostly sugar free, I love the way fruit tastes. The flavor and sweetness is much more intense! :)
 
I was dying for an apple this week... so I bought a Granny Smith (lowest glycemic out of the apples...).

It was SWEET. ;)

I don't think I've ever had a sweet Granny Smith in my life! No puckering, no mouth watering... it tasted to me like Braeburns used to.

Yeah, my tastes have definitely changed... most people's do. (I think that's why the protein bar manufacturer's are still in business, personally... those things taste terrible when you're eating sugar & flour!)
