We are getting ready to fly down to FL this weekend. Usually we use a sit n stroll but this time we are doing a lot of driving down there so i want the regular seat. I am a little concerned about it fitting in the airplane seat. Anyone have any experience with this?

Good to know- i have the marathon which is a bit wider so I hope that doesn't throw me over the edge!

I have flown a few times with our Britax Marathon. We fly Southwest and they have let us pre-board and install the huge thing :) Two of the times flying with the seat have been on busy Christmas day flights and they have not said one word.

Have fun on your trip!

If you're putting it in fwd facing, make sure you flip the airline lapbelt latchplate over once so it's facing the back of the airline seat instead of the back of the car seat. This will make it easier to undo at your destination. I also found that reclining the airplane seat while doing the install, then putting it upright after tightening the lap belt as much as possible before putting the seat back into its full upright position helped make things easier (and do in reverse when taking it out).

The Marathon and Roundabout are the same width, they just have different heights. It will fit. We don't fly w/ ours though b/c it's so big and we have 2 others to take too. We have a cheap Cosco Scenera we take instead, it's only 11#. Ask for a belt extender too, it'll install easier on the plane.

We flew with our Marathon. You won't be able to put down the tray, and it helped to take DS shoes off, since his feet were bumping into the seat of the person in front of us. It does fit, though! Since we had DH to carry him, we put the carseat in the stroller so we didn't have to lug it around, then gate-checked the stroller.

This is what we do to!! We will be in the airport next week with the double stroller and 2 carseats in it! Those things are a pain to carry!

Another roundabout user here. Never had a problem installing it.

thanks everyone. As I said, i got spoiled travelling with the sit n stroll since it is pretty small but it is stinky as a regular carseat if you are in and out a lot. Thanks for the tips about the installation as well!

I have flown with the Roundabout. I have the Marathon now. I would be a little concerned about flying with it. I would get the measurements unless you have 3 or more seats across. If you do, you can just lift up the armrests. Of course, you are going to lose seat space and an armrest but the seat will fit.

I've flown with the Marathon in a rear-facing position on SW. We got to pre-board, but I was still struggling with it when the other people came on the plane. I was traveling with DD by myself and I had ther pinned between my legs. The flight attendant was NOT helpful and basically told me that she needed to sit forward facing, she was 10 months. So I was determined then. I finally got it and it worked great.

We have flown with our Roundabout several times with no problems.

Hello,
My husband and soon-to-be 3 year old daughter are flying to Orlando Sept. 11th. Do I need to take a car seat for her for the plane? I had just assumed she would sit in the regular seat but you all have me wondering now.
Please advise

The FAA recommends children weighing under 40lbs use an airline approved Car Seat (white sticker w/black and red lettering that says it's approved for use in vehicles and airplanes). If you're going to be doing any riding around in cars during your stay then you should take your car seat w/you and the best/safest way to get it there is to just use it on board the plane.

Here's a link to the FAA site.

We brought the seat because we were renting a car. Next time we are taking DME so we I am leaving it at home.

Thank you for the reply. I would have arrived at the airport with no child seat and that would have been a terrible way to start our dream disney vacation.
