Have you felt attacked while posting here?

Good word, nigglng. I know it's not a completely PC comment, but it is consistent with my observations. But that's only one person. And the passing of the political season certainly has cooled things off. I think your right about the potential infernos.

OK I am officially confused. You posted the potentially offensive comment that Deep Thots quoted, yet you agree that the comment has potential to start infernos. Am I to glean from all this that you are looking to start a fire? :confused3

Overall, I don't think we are a bad crowed. pirate: I just think that sometimes our neighbors might feel tired, cranky, or threaten and their fustrations come out when they post. If you come across someone asking a question or giving helpful information........ It will help if we all do this "If you don't have anything nice, good, helpful, or anything that Mickie would say, to say.........Don't say anything at all" :earboy2: Or at least don't attact your neighbor....please! :scared:

There are ways to "Vent" without offending anyone in particular

:jumping1:

I got in trouble some time back... I had come back from a trip to WDW and seen lots of garbage and trays with food in the VWL hallways, and suggested "pennying in" the people who left the trash... This was a trick from college where you wedge pennies in the door and trap the occupants in their room. I was TOTALLY joking, but even after repeating this, I caught grief. I am in fact a worrier by nature, the type who ALWAYS fears the worst. I would NEVER trap anyone in their room, for fear of the hallway immediately bursting into flames! Anyhow, after a bit the debate stopped and I haven't mentioned it again until now! :)

How would you know that DrBond? You just registered a few months ago so I'm just wondering how you would know about the debate board. :confused3

Are we now going to provide attacks for those that have been left out so far?

Definitely, an equal opportunity forum here. :goodvibes

Naw... its more like a "now that you brought it up, your probably right"... comment. Besides, I don't plan to be aurguing the point on this issue, it's not a winable point, and it's one I'd revert to a political science research perspective to determine, not this thread.

How is my question an attack?

I was just curious about his comments. I am even more curious now that DrBond appears to be deliberately ignoring my question.

Yes. Actually I do. Then, believe it or not, the moderator PM's me and tells me to watch myself.

HUH?? I am just really stunned sometimes. Once I even had some girl here (I'd name names but...) PM me and chew me out because she thought I was laughing at her. All because I put a smiley in my response to her post. The stupid thing was I was agreeing with her in my post. Geez!

There are others that seem to follow me around and intentionally post attacking remarks constantly then run to the mods when I defend myself. I can think of two off the top of my head...

There is also one other poster her that has a real nasty habit of popping into threads and intentionally posting the EXACT opposite of the popular opinion just to stir up trouble.

Oh well. some people were just born to make life miserable. :confused3
That is called a snert and alot of people just come to boards to start trouble. You will find those people are never consistant with their opinion and it changes just to "pick a fight" If I were you don't reposond and they usually go away to troll elsewhere.

Okay, you have officially made me nervous to post here. So far I've had a lot of questions answered, a few ignored, one sort of snooty reply, and a mostly really positive experience. But now that I think I will be considered a newbie until I have 1000 posts :flower: , I'm hesitant to offer advice.

Just want to point out that just because someone hasn't posted a ton doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about. Maybe (like me) they just found this board, but Disney...ahhh...found that a long time ago. :sunny:

Don't feel discourage to post any questions here. I feel (most of us) are really here to help each other. I felt the same way you do, not too long ago. I've just learned (really quickly) to ignore the snooty, and don't take to heart anything. It doesn't matter how many posts you have, we're all in this together, and we're all learning as we go along.
I hope I made you feel a little better!

I felt the same way before this threat. Here I learned that what athenna said is completely true. This has made me feel more confident to post. Even if I have 50 points and everybody else has a 1,000,000 posts I will still consider myself knowlegable. and.......If I have something that will help anyone you can be sure that I will post. :duck:

I absolutely believe some Mods have favorites as well as targets. I also believe some Mods are vendictive.

I believe some people are cowards. They are big,bad and brave when they are hiding behind a keyboard.

Some people are too thin skinned. They interprete a difference of opinion as an attack.

Believe it or not, sometimes YOU ARE WRONG. Don't feel like you're being attacked when the error is pointed out.

The interaction on this board really isn't that much different then the real world. We "attack" each other all day long here at work but nobody takes it personal. Some days it's just your turn to be in "the barrel".

It is very easy to misinterprete a posters emotional intent simply by reading their post...... even with the help of various "smilies". Too often people jump to the conclusion that a harmless reply was instead an attack.

Speaking of smilies: IMO some people think they can post a sarcastic remark with all the intended implications but also throw in a couple "smilies" and act like all is forgiven. You can't have it both ways.

And then of course there are those members - usually don't last long - who are simply trouble makers. Just recognize these people for what they are and just move on. They'll be gone soon.

And lastly. If this board were just feel good posts, happy smilies, pixie dust everywhere.......blah,blah,blah, how many of us would still be here ?

I won't touch the first one for fear of becoming a target :smooth: but truth be told I have witnessed some censorship that I have felt over-stepped the bounds but overall I recognize that the mods are volunteers and generally do a good job

I agree with the rest of your observations - especially the last one :earboy2:

remember there are jerks everywhere and just because they "own" DVC it doesn't mean they are able to feel "that disney magic" the special few of us feel...keep up the majic and ignore the jerks..

Never felt "attacked" but have been involved in some "passionate" threads in the distant past where there were a few posters that always had to have the last posts.

Even as a bystander watching the mud flinging going on was very frustrating.

Some posters were very easy to ignite... and there were some posters that loved to throw a flare into the mix to see the reaction.

Richyams always had matches ready to go and was sure to be around any "flaming" threads. Personally, I always found his posts amusing even though not everyone did. I alway thought he needed a disclaimer in his posts for newbies so he wouldn't scare them away! Lol! I do miss his presence here on the boards.

For all the activity and people here on the disboards and the dvc forums, I think we are a pretty civilized bunch. I've learned to just move on to other threads when the tone starts turning in the wrong direction.

Sometimes......just sometimes I see this happening when I read this board.

Does anyone feel this way?

I haven't experienced it or seen much of it here. But if you've ever felt attacked in here i suggest that you never set cursor in a usenet newsgroup! It's murder in those, figuratively and relatively speaking.

While we are on the subject, why is it that some people answer questions that others ask and they are clearly so put-out having to answer it?
If you don't want to answer a question, skip it.
Sometimes I feel so bad for new people just wanting some info and some here on the boards are so curt.

Sorry, had to say something... :wave2:

Interesting thread, that continues to get more interesting as it goes on. I am enjoying reading it's progression.
Just want to add one thought..........No one should put a lot of stock on how many posts a person has-- as to whether they are,or are not knowledgeable about a topic; nor is it a real indicator of how long a poster has been posting on any discussion board. Many posters have numerous user names that they use on various discussion board sites, or on the same site; thus making the total post count as an indicator of their knowledge or length of time on a discussion board site--totally unreliable, at best.
Now please, continue on. :sunny:
