My DH and I are talking about a trip down the pacific coast highway with our 2 small dogs.
Being so close to DL I just cant see missing the opportunity to visit my happy place. So the big question is has anyone here used the pet boarding, what does it cost, what are the rules (time you can leave them, do they walk them or do you, ect.), and does anyone have pictures of the area?
Thank you in advance :drive:

The Disneyland Kennel is open from 30 minutes prior to opening to 30 minutes after closing. The kennels are clean. You will need to bring vet records showing their shot records.
Rabies
Distemper
Hepatitis
Parvovirus
Parainfluenza
Bordetella

This paperwork must include:

The name, address and telephone number of the pet owner
A description of the pet that includes breed, color, age and sex
The date of immunization for each vaccination required
The type or description of each vaccination required
The name, address and phone number of the veterinarian who administered each vaccination

They do not touch your pet. They don't want the responsibility of anything possibly happening to your pup. You will need to come back to walk/potty them. They will water them or call you if the water bowl moves and they cannot reach it. They will not reach in due to possible dog bites.

Wow. Sounds like a self-serve pet box. I'm pretty particular about our little fur-baby's accommodations. Are there other offsite pet resorts within a reasonable distance? If driving in maybe that's a better option.

We always take our dogs with us and leave them at the DL kennel. I like being able to go see them throughout the day. My boxer would get sick every time we left them at a boarding place. But he does not seem to mind it at DL. He loves riding on the tram from the Mickey and friends parking lot.

You are required to walk your dog at least every four hours. They are strict about that but its fine by me. We plan for it out in our day. They are also strict about the paper work and have become more so in the past few months. Most vets will state the date the vaccination is good up to but DL kennel now wants the date the shots were given and it must be on your vets letterhead.

Where do you walk your dog? Just around the plaza?
I only ask because I've never noticed anybody doing that.

I did a Google search for pet day care and found Camp Bow Wow in Anaheim. Their website is http://www.campbowwow.com/us/ca/anaheim/. Looks like they are generally open 7am-7pm but they also appear to do boarding for $47/night for 1 dog. Their website also appears to have several cameras for the indoor & outdoor play areas, in case that is something you are interested in.

In the past, they had an area behind/beside the kennel to take the dog, also the esplanade and walking through the tram area. (There is grass near the exit of the tram area.)

I see dogs being walked frequently. But, we do tend to see dogs when they are out.

Actually, it is better for your dogs if they are not touched by anyone, especially small dogs. Diseases can easily pass from one dog to another if the workers do not wash their hands.

How big are the kennels? I sounds to me like they are like small carriers.
Do they let you put both your animals together?
Where is the entrance located?
I would love to see a picture of what this place looks like.

Thank you all for the great info.

Check out http://dogvacay.com/as an option. Although I not from the DL area, I have found many great pet independent pet sitters through the site and I am VERY picky where I leave my puppy. It is a user review based system so you can search through who you think might be a good fit for you.

Just outside of the Kennel they have an enclosed area they can go to the bathroom in. It is not visible to the general public and if no other dogs are present I let my dogs run around off leash. They have a small area with astroturf that the dogs usually poop on. They use to provide poop bags but they haven't had any lately but we always bring our own. On Christmas is was really crowded so we took them out to the esplanade to go. We try to avoid areas with lots of people are around.

My boxer goes in one of the biggest kennels they have and they are pretty big. I'm about 6' tall and I can almost stand up in them. My boxer is 62 lbs and he has lots of room. On Christmas day a huge 120 lb+ Akita was there and he had plenty of room as well. My Shih Tzu goes in one of their smallest kennels. But they will let you put both of the dogs in the same kennel if thats what you want. They always put down a blanket for the dogs and provide a water bowel and the kennels are always clean. The people who work there are very nice. Its 20 dollars per dog, per day. We put the dogs stuff, bowls, food, leash in a bag on top of the kennel. We've never had any problems. My wife and I are VERY protective of our dogs and the DL Kennel is the only we have ever felt comfortable leaving our dogs.

If you are standing in front of the maingate at DL, the kennel is located to your far right. Try to get there early to make sure they have space for your dog. Especially if you have a large breed.
