done something for your kid that you swore you'd never do? I swore to myself that I would not keep mine out of school for any reason other than illness or doctor appointments once he got into middle school, but I did today with no regrets.
Last night I took DS14 to DFW airport to meet the Texas Rangers plane when they came home from New York. While I am a fan of the team, he is a FAN, and he really doesn't ask for much, so I agreed to this when he asked (more like begged).
Their plane came in at 12:45 am, after he had been waiting patiently for over three hours (and those of you with Aspie kids know that waiting does not come easy). When he saw his heroes step off the plane, he was thrilled. When some of the players came over to the fence to chat for a minute and sign autographs, he was practically jumping out of his skin. And when he got a high five from Josh Hamilton and a fist bump from Michael Young, his face lit up like Christmas morning. Those things made all the waiting and tiredness (on my part) worth it. That is a memory he will probably carry for a very long time. I know the look on his face will stay with me
The things we do for our kids' happiness is a bit crazy sometimes, isn't it?
