have you ever met someone who really made you stop and think and be glad for what you are doing? I met her today. Her name is Mable and she lives in an apartment complex for elderly and disabled people.

now rewind to the begining of this week, I am supposed to paint and pack bags for people in these complexes. I do it every year, so I figured this year wouldn't be any different.

Kala and I set off today and got the bags out of the car and headed up to the second floor. The first room we went to the lady nearly made me cry. She was so sad. that little bag of candy and fruit made her so happy. So on to room number 2, and I am already teary as I knock on the door, so I'm thinking this is gonna be hard.

It wasn't. Mabel opened the door and she was ecstatic. we stood there for at least 30 minutes just talking to her. We laughed and we talked and time just FLEW by. Kala and I couldn't stop smiling. After we finally left and finished delivering we couldn't stop talking about "Mable in 209" when we were leaving, the lady we came there with (jamie) said "well if you enjoyed talking to her so much, why don't the two of you come back and visit her once or twice a month?" and we're going to.

It seems so trivial, just reading it, but she really made me think about a lot. I know most people in that building hadn't had any visitors, and probably wouldn't for a good while. but Mabel just seemed different. Talking to her made me really think about everything I take for granted, like my family and my home.

so sometime next month, I'm gonna try go see Mabel again.

those of you that are still with me after my rambeling, have you ever met someone like this?

somebody who put my life in perspective for me? yep. i could be alot better off...but i could be alot worse off. i lost alot in hurricane ivan. but i have my life and my family. some of those that i have met dont have that.

thanks for the reminder.
