Been married a long time now, but yes I turned down guys for their looks as a rule. Guys who are too good looking are full of themselves and boring. Being very attractive is actually a kind of curse.

There were a couple guys when I was doing to the online dating thing that I decided to not pursue/continue chatting with because I knew I was not attracted to them and at that time I had several other guys I was chatting with. Though I am, in general, more interested in a persons personality than I am in their looks. I have also become attracted to someone I was not originally attracted to after getting to know them.

As far as money goes. I would not purse someone just for their money but their NOT having money/job does make a difference.

There have been several threads for this, and at least one is still active, but mainly because most people on here live so far apart, I don't think it's had a lot of results.
They could divide it by state if the Dis did a professional version.

Some states may not have enough single members on here for that to work out very well, but they could give that a try. In the meantime, if you are so inclined, you could always start a dating thread for your state.

Yeah, in all my time on the DIS I have only known two other people from my city who were active on here. If you widened it to the state maybe a few more, but it's a BIG state! There just isn't enough traffic on here to really see good results unfortunately.

I wish the Dis would set up a dating website.
You’d most likely have better luck with a traditional dating site. But unless you live in a big city/area even then it is difficult. When I was online dating I never meet anyone in my town. They were all 30-90 minutes away.

Based on looks, no. But based on intangible attraction, yes. One of my very best friends is a guy I actually met on a dating site years ago. He's a wonderful person and we get along amazingly well. But the romantic chemistry simply doesn't exist, and we recognized that on the first date.

The whole "wealth" argument? Not so much. I tried that exactly once, at my dad's suggestion. I was mostly dating unemployed/underemployed people when I was asked out by an architect from a wealthy family in Prague, who was working for a local company. Dad said I should give it a try, since I was having no luck and the guy was completely outside my normal dating pool. BIG mistake. He was an entitled jerk with a side of very old-fashioned beliefs about male and female roles.

Not that my luck has gotten any better since then, but at least it proved to me once and for all that I am NOT cut out to be a gold digger.
