Hi, I will be taking my DS, 2 with me on the plane. Is spirit airlines good? Do they have any extrasa on the plane for kids? i.e. tv?? It''ll just be me & him, so i'm thinking of things to keep him calm on plane. Thanks!

We liked Spirit as well, however, it is a bare bones type thing. As said above, no extras.

We flew Spirit ONCE because of the low fare. Now we always fly Southwest - It would be worth your drive to Islip! JMHO. :cool1:

Also had a good experience with Spirit. Seats are a little tighter than SW but flights were on time and baggage came out fast. Flew Southwest this last time and never again. Flight was late and we waited so long for our baggage (over an hour) that our limo co. almost gave up on us. I prefer to flew an airline with assigned seats.

Wow, here's a good reason to use Disney's Magical Express -- never having to sit through delays at baggage claim!

Anyway, I've flown Spirit for years and loved it. They're the only airline that flies out of my home airport except for one Delta Connection flight. As everyone else has said, there are no "extras" but you will get good solid airline service. Also, Spirit is a very financially stable company, one of the few airlines that actually makes a profit. So in other words, no fears of bankruptcy, etc.

I have flown on Spirit for 3 round trips once LGA-DTW and twice LGA-FLL in the past year with all good expirences. The new spirit planes (Airbus) are nice with leather seats but no frills. The old ones (MD-80) are a bit long in the tooth andare being slowly phased out. If avaible you can upgrade to the bigger seats at the front of the plane at checkin for not too much $$ ($40-$50 a seat when we did it) and get free snacks. The rest of the plane has to pay for the snacks (credit/debit only, no cash), but at least they are of decent quality.

I prefer to fly on the discounters now..Newark is my home airport which means CO, but unless you are a business traveler you get treated like dirt. At least with the discounters everyone is in the same catagory :teeth: I will acutally pay a bit more to fly on JetBlue over CO from Newark
