Have you ever stayed for a few days or longer in Belize?

If so can you give me some info? We're tossing around going for a week next year.

Thanks!

What do you want to know? I have an aunt and uncle that lived there for a very long time. I can ask them some questions. :goodvibes

Yes - we stayed in Belize for more then 10 days. We spent our time in Ambergris Cay and had a wonderful time.

We were in Belize for 18 days in 2007. We loved it. What type of trip are you looking for? We spent some time on Slickrock Island which was fantastic if you are an adventure sport and diving person. Much better than Ambergis because it is a private island. We also spent time inland as well as south on the coast. I'll be happy to share more but before I prattle on let me know what type of trip you are looking for.

We also spent our time on a private island - but I figured no one would know the spot. Cayo Espanto. Tiger Woods honeymooned there - obviously didn't work out so great for him!

DD16 and I spent a week there last April after a couple of one day stops on cruises...we spent one night on Caye Caulker and six nights on Ambergris Caye and took one day to do an inland tour to Lamanai (which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip). I love Belize, it's so diverse. My brother and his wife spent 10 days there a few years ago and spent all their time in Placencia which they raved about and they're hoping to go back again next spring.

Well, we're thinking of staying there for a few days and want to know the best snorkling areas. You know, where the locals go. Also, where would you recommend we stay?

What are the "must dos" so that we don't miss out on anything?

Thanks to you all.

Our guys snorkel a lot and this would be what they do the most. We girls like to explore, maybe see some ruins, that type of thing.

In 2008 I spent ten days in Belize. I had a great time and really enjoyed it.

I spent the first three nights in Belize City and used that as a base for guided day tours. Belize City is rough and a bit dangerous, but the area I stayed in was safe and very convenient for day trips to a number of places. I then went to San Ignacio near the border with Guatemala for a day trip to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, which is located in Guatemala. Tikal is amazing and seeing it was the highlight of my trip. I just returned from Peru and I think that Tikal is more impressive than Machu Picchu. Afterwards I spent five nights at a beach resort near Placencia.

Belize has so much to offer. I was drawn by the Mayan ruins and the jungle. I'd be happy to answer any other questions that you might have.

Here is where we spent the last portion of our trip. You get one excursion included with each days stay as well as all food. There are daily scuba/snorkling excursions as well as at least 1 daily excursion to a ruin or other inland attraction like the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife preserve. We stayed in the honeymoon treehouse and it was amazing. The other treehouses are very cool too and the rooms seem nice as well. The staff was outstanding and the food incredible. You can also take bikes to ride into the town of Hopkins which is a very unique culture.
