a fanny pack like this:

It is a squarish shape. It has two separate zipper pockets on the front, one for cell phone, one for sunglasses. Then it has the larger main pocket behind the 2 smaller ones. Anyone?

It CAN NOT be leather! I saw this exact thing at TJ Maxx but they were leather. We are going in August, and between being splashed on water rides and being sweaty I know the color from that leather would run all over. DH ruined his clothes last year after he got his leather belt wet, so we don't need a repeat performance.

I looked at over 240 fanny packs on Amazon last night but I didn't see anything that looked like it was the same shape. :confused3

Thanks for the link! That's not quite what I have in mind. The leather one I saw had a very distinct front pocket for sunglasses. Most of the nylon packs I am seeing have a pocket in the front, but it is flatter and would squash my glasses. I guess the alternative is to put the glasses in the main compartment in their normal case, or wear them on top of my head like I did for the majority of our October trip. I started out with them on a strap but that only lasted about half a day before I took the strap off. I really hate sunglasses, but I know I will want them in the summer.

We are trying to figure out how to manage without our beloved backpack because DH says it will be too hot to carry it in August. But every post on the fanny pack thread reminded me of something else I want to be sure to carry along! I thought I had it figured out, but now I am questioning that. Good thing I have plenty of time to work on it! :rotfl:

That one is closer! And a decent price, too!

I found a really cool one on the REI site that even has a place where you put your water bottle horizontally across the bottom, but if the water bottle leaks (which I have read the Brita bottles sometimes do) I don't really want water dripping on my leg all week. I guess if it starts leaking I can just dump the water out unless I am drinking it, and carry the bottle in the holder when it is empty. I really want DH to wear the fanny pack with one Brita bottle and I will carry the other Brita bottle, but we'll have to see.

I think if I wasn't planning to carry so much crap it would be great! :teeth:

So far we have been in January and October. It was pretty warm in October, and DH said it was too hot to carry the backpack. Now we are going in August so he has said the backpack must stay home. :guilty:

In my fanny pack I must have:
digital camera, cell phone, sunglasses, small sunscreen, antibacterial wipes, disposable ponchos, mini fan (battery powered, about the size of a roll of quarters), lip balm, daily touring plan, times guide & park map, mints. We also have 2 Brita bottles that we will need to carry.

We all have badge holders that hang around our necks for keys to the World, Fast Passes, spare change, AAA card, etc.

So today at Ross I found a bag that MIGHT work. It says it is a camera bag, but it should fit the bill. DH can wear it across his body like a messenger bag - or I can if he refuses ;) - and it should hold all of the above, including the water bottles. It is rectangular with two side pockets for the bottles and plenty of other pockets for the other junk. Inside there are 2 dividers that velcro to the bag's interior so you can make the sections larger or smaller. It was only $8.99, and if DH will carry this I have no problem carrying one Brita bottle in the insulated bottle thing we brought on the last trip. We'll see what DH thinks when he sees it tonight.

Oooh! Look! I found the exact thing on eBay. I'll see if I can post the link.

LOL. I hope you find what you need!

When I showed the bag to DH he sort of screeched "That's a PURSE!" But I showed him the tag which clearly states it is a camera bag. I did a trial run with it last night, packing all of our gear into the little compartments. It fit fine, but DH is worried that if the bag is too heavy the strap will dig into his shoulder. Hmm. I guess I'll keep looking, but so far I think that bag is pretty good.
