Have you ever requested a late Check-Out?

We need just a little more time!
Our plane doesn't leave until 6:00 the day we check-out. We have a one year old and I would like to request a late check-out so she could have a late morning nap before we leave.

Does anyone know what is the latest they will let you stay and if there will be an extra charge for this? BTW, we will be @ the GF, so obviously I wouldn't want to book an extra day!

Thanks!:D

We requested late checkout at the Poly when we stayed concierge in May. We only stayed until 1pm, but they happily accomodated us. It probably will matter if you are leaving on a weekend or a weekday and how full the GF is at the time.

Depending on hotel occupancy and number late checkouts already granted you can get 1:00P for free and either 4:00 or 5:00 (not sure which) for 50% of your room rate.

CBR let us stay until 3 p.m. last summer and the summer before we stayed until 2:30 p.m. with no extra charges

I have gotten 12pm and 1pm for free at the deluxe resorts, 11 at a moderate and no option of late check out at AKL or at the Values. I would call ahead and try and find out your options - it just helps to be prepared. If nothing else - you can check your luggage and hope for a nap in the stroller if you find a cool calm place?? Each trip I ask for late check-out as we usually fly out about 7PM that day. ASMu has you call and ask about late checkout a few days before you are scheduled to leave. We usually do 1PM and that is for free. Up until 4PM (I think) is 50% off of rack rate is what we were told and after that is the full price. At the Poly we did late check out, still calling a few days before checkout and until 1PM was free. Not sure of after that as we had not asked.

Mention when you check in about late checkout and they will let you know what the procedure is for your hotel, including the prices. I would think that most of the time they should be able to give you late checkout unless it is a busy time of the year and they need the room.

We stayed at AKL last month and asked for late checkout at 1 pm. They didn't let us have it because they said our room was already assigned. We have a 1 year old also and it would've been nice. We didn't ask until the night before checkout though. I don't know if it would have made a difference if we had asked a few days before.

We have asked for late check out the last two stays at CR. We were told to check back on our last nite, then they would be able to determine if they would be needing the room or not. We were lucky and received the 1pm check out both times at no extra charge. This gave us a little more time to sleep and do some souvenir shopping:D .

I have always asked for late check out and have never been turned down in 14 trips at different hotels there.

Never hurts to ask

Can bell services hold onto your luggage if you can't get a late checkout time? Do they charge to do this (if it's allowed)?

Absolutely. In fact, if you have length-of-stay passes like the UPH passes it's almost manditory. I've never been that thrilled with leaving our luggage in bell services (since I don't know how secure it is) but at the World it's always been great.

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I will definetly be sure to ask in advance. I still won't be ready to leave though!:(

Here on the Boards!;) I usually check out around 10:00am and have to wait awhile for my transportation, but now that I know this, I will ask for Late Checkout!;) Thanks a BUNCH!

WL let me check out at 1:00 yesterday.....hotels on property were only at 32% occupancy according to CM's there

The day before my wedding, I was checking into GF from CR. I had a regular, LV room booked for the night of the 11th. On the 12th, my wedding day, I was checking into an RPC room. I couldn't go to the ballroom to get dressed until 1:30pm, so I asked the lady if I could either check into my concierge room earlier - 11:00am - or get late check-out - 1:00pm - for the LV room. She left me there for 20 minutes, I assume to talk to someone, came back and said no. I was dumbfounded. I just stood there staring at her. I said, "But it's my wedding day and I won't have anywhere to put my dress between 11am and 1pm." I'll have to cart it back over to CR to my parents' room and then haul it back to the GF ballroom to get dressed. She offered to store it in the storage place - the place where they keep the luggage if people check in early in the day. Ummm....lemme think about that one. My $2,500. wedding dress....stored with a bunch of people's luggage....I was inclined to reject that offer. So, I offered to pay for the concierge room to check in that night. She said I could, but because of the late notice, I would be responsible for half of the LV room. I just couldn't win with this lady! I was upset and angry and late for my rehearsal dinner, which I didn't even want to go to anymore. My husband saw how upset I was and called our Event's Manager who called the concierge who told us to come to him at 11:00am the next day and he would take care of everything. And he did.

My advice - don't bet on late check-out. I asked when I made the reservation and I was assured that "It's your wedding day, they will most certainly help you." Apparently not. I still stay at GF though....I mean, it's not a GUARANTEE, so I can't be too angry about it. At the time though....the day before my wedding....it really seemed like the end of the world!
