Once, in your whole life?
I haven't worked for a long time but when I did I pulled "sickies" from time to time. I did get fired from my first job for doing it, but we all knew the consequences for that particular day. It was totally worth it :)

These days the personal/sick time is pretty common. I like the idea -it's better than having people lie when they just "need" a day off.

No, never and I'm now retired.
I struggle to understand the mentality of people who think they are "entitled" to so many "sick" days per annum.
If you need time off then use a vacation day.

Yeah, I was just making a tongue in cheek joke in my original post...the wife pulls a sickie on me.

For me, truthfully, I know I did when I was a teen. I was a bit of a wild child, so there were plenty of party nights were I didn't feel like going outside to collect shopping carts and just wanted to go party. So I pulled a sickie. But now, honestly, no I really don't. I definitely use all my vacation time, but sick time I really don't.

Well according to my Mental age quiz you gave us I guess I should have taken many mental health days!!! :rotfl:

But I subbed all my years and we didn't get any paid sick or vacation days.

I have never once truly faked sick, though I there have been a couple of days where I was mildly sick and I might have exaggerated it a tad. Honestly, I usually come to work when I'm sick as a dog and really shouldn't, so if I had a minor bug that pretty much ran its course in the morning, I might have taken the whole day.

DH gets personal time, but it has to be arranged in advance and approved in order for him to take they day off. His vacation time and sick time all fall under the same umbrella, so a vacation day and a sick day are one and the same.

I retired a month ago. We didn't have sick time. And I'm a nurse lol

Lol yes!!!
I worked for the Navy Exchange in New London CT... I didn't care for one of my coworkers..
twice I convinced my entire department to call out sick. Leave ole girl working by herself..while we all went to the casino!!!

Yes.. just this past Monday! Most everyone has off MLK day. My daughter was out of school, so I called in and we worked on college apps!

Most everyone? In our region, all the kids have school and everyone has to work unless they work for the government or post office.

No.

The closest is when my coworkers (including my department head) took me out for my bachelor party 7 hours before my shift was supposed to start, plied me with a bunch of alcohol, dropped me at home less than 3 hours before my shift, and then was upset when I couldn't make it to work.

Yes, every so often.

I never used to, but I swear, it seems to be the norm at the organization I work for now. I have never worked with people who call out sick so much, it's insane. As a result I keep saying that I'm going to do it more for my mental health, but time gets away from me and I rarely do.

I took lots of mental health days at my first "real" job. I hated that company. Loved my co-workers, but the job was horrible. I think I called out once a month. Lasted less than a year before I moved on.

Yes, and I DO feel entitled to the 10 sick days my company offers, and if I do not use them I lose them. I have brought it up many of times in meetings that we should move away from separate vacation and sick days and just combine them into PTO days. It's the old dog new tricks scenario.

Rarely. I've been in my job for almost 6 years and I think I've done it maybe 2-3 times. I've never completely made up an illness before, though, just exaggerated something mild. I usually like my job, though, so I don't feel the need to take "mental health days" as often here as I did at my last job (where I did it maybe once a month or so).
