Have you ever had your car stolen ... TWICE? Updated post #75

Jazz,

I am so, so, so, so sorry!! It is just awful.

My DH had his struck stolen while he was at work. He was working late, came out to come home, and it was gone. :scared1: It was his pride and joy.

Oh, the joy of the silver lining. I suppose he can't leave things on my car when I don't have a car for things to be left on.

I don't even know if I should voice this, but....my first thought when I read this was that "Joe" took it. I really think you should mention to the police that he has been harrassing you.

So sorry that happened to you. We had our SUV stolen from our driveway a few years ago. My husband came back from getting the paper and said our car was gone. Of course, I had to go see for myself thinking, of course it is there, he just didn't see it (not sure how he would miss an SUV :lmao:). We filed the report with the police and rented another SUV since we were leaving the next weekend on a trip. The police called us while we were on vacation. They found our car - chased the guys but they got away. It was full of furniture - guess they were moving and needed an SUV?? It was filthy and smelled so smoky with rap music blaring out of the radio but surprisingly, nothing was missing!!

Hope they find your car soon!

My dad's car, which became my car a month later was stolen. They found it the next town over with nothing wrong. It was an old mazda with just an AM radio. My guess is the car, who was VERY temperamental, decided that she didn't want to work and died on them. My mom had her car stolen about 2 years later and it was parked up the street with the battery and radio missing. I'm so sorry you are going through this!

It honestly didn't even occur to me when CHP was out here taking the report. We can call about it tomorrow, but I honestly don't get that vibe from the guy involved, that he would do that (since I know who it is). But then again, you never know with these things.

I don't know any of the details of what this guy has been doing, just that you have been upset by it, which makes my big sister/mom radar go off.

Or maybe I just watch too much TV. :lmao:

I had mine stolen 22 yrs ago, sure enough 2 miles from Disneyland where I lived. It was one of those situations where I went out to the parking lot to go to work, and it wasn't there. I called the police to report it and called my insurance company immediately. I received a rental car through insurance for free and sure enough the car was located 2 weeks later. It had been driven quite a few miles, we think towards San Diego, and it was heavily damaged on the interior (they took a screw driver to the roof, front dash, seats, etc.... They also took all of the CDs we had in the car and some other personal items. To top it off, they took the tires off and put old bald tires on it. The police said that's what they do....drive it to a remote location, strip it, and then drive it to another location and dump. Needless to say, I didn't want it back after they found it, but unfortunately it was shy $100 from being totaled. State Farm took care of everything, all repairs, and it looked like brand new (it was less than a year old). I even had them shampoo everything inside since it felt weird knowing someone else was in it.

I hope your situation gets finalization soon.

I watch way too much TV too, :lmao:

In all honesty, what's going on with this guy at work is pretty tame. He's just leaving things on my car. Roses. Cards. Etc. I suppose under other circumstances it could be flattering to some people but it just makes me uncomfortable.

Oh, and I forgot to add ... No news on my car yet, but we should find out about the rental tomorrow. I don't know why they couldn't get back to us today, but they said they would the next business day. Which will be tomorrow.

WOW, that is crazy, what kind of car do you have, Is it new?, that is just terrible, i have never had my car stolen before but i have had all the lights and windows broken out:mad:, nothing was stolen:confused3 but it still sucked to have to deal with unnecassary car issues. I hope they find it, keep us updated.

I've heard those are the most stolen car Jazz, it sucks tho. So you should hear about the rental today right?

As I've heard as well. Sigh. We did hear about the rental. Got a call earlier this AM and picked it up about an hour ago, so we've got a vehicle to use now. Just really, really hoping we hear something about my car soon.

About 5 yrs ago my car was stolen from in front of the house. Usually it would have been parked in the garage, but I was doing some renovations and there was no room for the car so it had to be parked in the driveway. I came ownstairs the next morning to go work and habitually opened the door between the kitchen and garage and there was my wifes car in the opposite bay, but mine was not. DUH!!! I parked it outside last night. So I went out the front door and the car was not in the driveway. Huh, What? So I did what any norml red blooded American male would do in that situation. Yep, I went back in and double checked the garage. "Mmmmm Hmmm, still no car, that's what I thought." So this time I decided to open the garage door, but SURPRISE.... still no car in the driveway. Did that deter me? Nope. Just to be sure I hadn't parked it somewhere else I walked around the house twice, walked down the block, asked the neighbors and interrogated a few suspicious bushes before finally admitting defeat and calling LE.

The insurance company was great and provided me with a rental. After about a week local LE found the car abandoned a few blocks from the house. Amazingly the car did not have a scratch on it except for the busted ignition. LE held the car for a few days so that the Auto Theft Task Force could conduct their investigation. I received a call from the detective in charge that they were able to lift fingerprints from the inside of car, but they also found traces of crack cocaine and that I would have to submit to a urinalisis to prove that it wasn't mine. No problem, Crack is Whack. So they released the car to me that evening and when they walked me to it in the impound lot they had coated the entire interior in BLACK fingerprinting dust which was then ground into the fabric, headliner, and carpeting to the point where it would not come clean. The insurance company totalled the car and I bought it back for $500.00 and continued driving it for another year, but it never felt like my car again.

We got some 'news' today. My plates have been recovered, and the car is still MIA. Have I mentioned that I have 100% accepted the fact that I will not be seeing her again.

Sigh.

^Well, that doesn't sound good, but there's still hope! You never know, it may find its way back to you.

My friends and I went to Disneyland one day, parked in Pinocchio at about 7:45, and came back to the parking lot around 11:30 pm, and were sure that it was gone. It ended up being parked right behind a mini van and totally blocked from our sight until just before we got to it.

Now, I know cars come in and out, but to be one of about 7 cars in the entire Pinocchio lot, and to have a huge car parked right, I mean right next to it, is kind of weird. I told some of my parking friends about it, and they intimated that sometimes people "move" cars. Don't quite believe them on that, but you literally couldn't see the car - it was like it was purposefully parked in a way that blocked it from our view. Now, we laugh about it. Then, we were tired and NOT happy.

Thank goodness not so far... I have thought about test driving fine cars though.... :) As in hopefully the owner will not come to get his car before I return it. ;)

That is horrible about your car.

At least you got your plates back - thats one positive thing I guess :)

There are some horrible people in this world.

I know this isnt as bad as your car but many years ago my father's house was robbed and they took 4 of my personal Diaries (YEs I keep these, well used to).... Man it was horrible :(

Man. Theft always hurts.

I remember back when I was in Jr. High our house got broken into. I was too young to really remember much of it from the standpoint of what happened after the fact but I remember that some of my CD's and my Gameboy were stolen.

This definitely hurts more, especially after paying the whole car off myself. Ugh.

We got the affidavit of theft today from our insurance company. I'm kind of getting excited about getting this whole thing taken care of and getting a new car.
