Have you ever had a conversation with someone famous?

During the summer of my senior year in college I worked at a repertory theater company and dated a young man named Jamin Bratt. Now, he's all grown up and goes by the name of Benjamin Bratt. Back then, he was really nice and funny. Very sweet guy!

Oh. My. God. :faint: :lovestruc:lovestruc

Yes actually!
I've talked to all 3 of the Jonas Bros before. It wasn't a planned thing or anything, but they do have a family member who goes to school where I do, and my roommate had that family member over to her house. ;) I met them there.

I thought they were fairly awkward to be honest. It didn't take very long to not be starstruck......

Harry Connick Jr.!?!?! I'm so jealous, I just adore him!!

I forgot one! Once when my friend and I were in NY in Dec. we got some presents for kids and went to the Today show early when they were collecting toys for tots and had "celebrity elfs" there to collect the gifts. This day it was Charro, she is a hoot! My friend and I were at the beginning of the line of people who had brought gifts, so during commercial breaks she would talk to us. She was wearing a very skimpy santa outfit and I remember her saying, "I'm freezing my a$$ off out here!"

I used to work in radio and met a LOT of them. Most left no impression, the following did:

Earl Woods (yes, Tiger's daddy. He was amazingly nice and friendly)

The Temptations (we sang with them and they invited us out to their concert)

Lionel Richie (nicest guy EVER!)

Elton John (he and his boyfriend are both my height!! I'm 4'11" tall! :scared1: ) They were so cute about it!

Prince: He IS my height! His bandmate was my girlfriend's bf. I couldn't believe we looked eye to eye. At the time he was dating a woman who was a foot taller than he was and so was my bf. Cute!

Sean Hannity: He was my co worker for several years and YES, he is the sweetest guy EVER. Yes, I said it!! :lmao:

and last but not least my former boss, Marlon Jackson. What a sweet GENUINE person. I'm trying to forgive him for bringing Michael up to the station when I was NOT there!!! :sad1:

Marlon was your boss?? omg how cool!! is he as sweet as he looks? OMG i cant belive that he took MJ in when you were not there!

sorta. when I was 15 I saw JOEY JEREMIAH! waiting in line to get a drink in the airport in Toronto. now, you might have to be Canadian to know who JOEY JEREMIAH is, and honestly, I can't even remember his real name now!!! hahahahaha!!!

last year I met Andrew Firestone and his gorgeous wife in the airport in SFO. I recognised him, he was pacing in this odd way, he expected to be recognised, so I got a picture with him. well first I said I was trying to be as discreet as possible! I should have asked for his wife to do one with me as well. that woulda been fun! oh well. it was on my FB page but nobody "got it", it just looked like I was posting a picture of me and some random semi good looking guy with my daughter and my preggo self :P

I grew up in Michigan. My friends and I used to watch channel 9, which came out of Canada. Watched the show that started it all Degrassi Jr. High, moved on to Degrassi, and I admit I have/do on occasion watch the new Degrassi show that is on now. Loved when they did the whole season with Spike, Snake, Joey and Caitlin...

I met many celebs and politicians when I was a flight attendant.

I flew a lot of trans cons and usually worked in the first class galley. During long flights, people get up to stretch their legs or whatever and often end up in or next to the galley, so I have chatted with quite a few. Truth is though I didn't know who most of them were. I have never been a big tv person or even movie goer, and don't know who most of the people are that are mentioned on these boards. I only found out who they were after the fact when my fellow f/as wanted to know everything the person said. I always figured they liked talking to me because I was not starstruck -- since I didn't recognize them.

This was a long time ago though and I have not met anyone famous recently -- at least not that I am aware of. LOL!!!!

I did, literally, run into JFK Jr. one time in Central Park. This was shortly after the Central Park rapist victim was in the news. (Do ya'll remember that story? Yes, I'm showing my age.) Anyway, I was jogging and it wasn't terribly late but it was starting to get dark, so I pick up my pace. I want to get out of the park before dark. Anyway, I notice this car drving behind me and it is going pretty slow, and I"m spending more time trying to pay attention to it than what's in front of me. It is behind me though, so I didn't get a great look at it. Anyway, I'm going around a corner and run right smack into this guy and fall down. The car behind me turns out to be a police car and they get out and start saying, "Are you alright SIR,?" I'm thinking, "Sir? What about me?" Well, I look at the guy and it was JFK Jr. He told them he was fine and asked how I was and helped me up and we went our opposite ways. Years later he was on a flight and I mentioned that we had bumped into each other before, and told him the story. He remembered it -- or at least said he did.

George Strait - handsome, polite, and soft spoken

Barbara Bush - loved her...very genuine

Chuck Norris - very kind

Yes a few. DD is an actress so i have met some famous people. While waiting on sets when she was under 18 i had to be there with her. Have had nice conversations with everyone listed here.

That was me!!! He's awesome. He's just this regular sweet, somewhat goofy sort of guy who's been really blessed. Us extras are always talking about the actors and whatnot and no one has anything bad to say about Kyle. Everybody loves him!! A few months back, I filmed a wake/funeral scene. It was really intense and I kept losing it. I walked into the kitchen at one point, and kyle asked how i was doing and i burst into tears. He was all like "NICE!! keep it up!! Maybe you'll get paid extra!!!"

I've volunteered on many Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS events and have met a handful of celebrities there. My favorite person is Mel Brooks; nice man. Almost like talking to an uncle.

I have met Barry Manilow. He's much quieter off stage than on stage. Very dry sense of humor.

I've been working on a charity project for a music school, trying to track down songwriters for their signatures. This is a "homegrown" project and I do not have access to publicists. I e-mailed the manager of Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys (he wrote "I Write the Songs"; Barry Manilow only sings it). In my request, I included my phone number for any questions. About an hour later my phone rang -- it was Bruce Johnston. I was floored. He is very personable and we spoke for at least 15 minutes about a variety of topics.

The rudest celebrity I've ever crossed paths with is Star Jones. I can't use the word that best describes her here on the Disboards.

I almost forgot. I met Bono and U2 on a plane many years ago. They were sitting in first class. I was in coach. The bathrooms in coach were out of commission, so coach passengers had to go to the bathroom in first class. It was a 3 hour flight from KC to LA and I just couldn't wait. When I got to first class, someone was in the bathroom, so I had to stand in the aisle waiting. This nice guy with a really cool accent started talking to me. We talked for 3 or 4 minutes until the bathroom was free.

After I returned to my seat in coach, a flight attendant came to me and asked if I knew who I had been speaking with. I had no idea it was Bono until she told me.

Oh! I forgot about my brief conversation I once had with Roy Disney, Jr. :goodvibes

Not really. Arnold Schwarzenegger and JFK Jr. used to work out in the summer time at the healthclub I worked in the summer so I had to check them in and spoke with them on numerous occassions.

My DH has two very good friends from Jr. High and High School that are making it big. One is a big time DJ and music producer and the other is a screenwriter/producer/actor.

Yes. I work in sound for TV and Film and I've had normal conversations with a lot of famous people over the past 12 years.

I forget them, though. I won't even remember, unless someone says something then I'll go, oh yes!

Like Barry Manilow. He was coming to the studio as he had a cameo in a film and he had to re-do his lines. We were under construction in our lobby at the time, so one of us always had to be available to walk actors to the service elevator so they were not by the sand-blasting and painting areas. I can't even remember what we talked about. He seemed very nice.

Benjamin Bratt is the nicest guy.
Kathy Najimy is sweet.

I had a long conversation with Ben Affleck about another famous star, at the time she was going through some serious issues and I just had to know how someone rich and famous can have so many hangers-on that they can't see the destructive path they are on. He agreed with me and said they are usually surrounded by yes-people and they get conditioned to the point where crazy seems normal. It was a fascinating conversation.

Brad Pitt just puts off this star aura. I honestly believe that man doesn't have a care in the world. Must be nice to be him!

Hector Elizondo was really great.

I'm sure there are so many more. Oh, Tom Hanks IS the nice guy you think he is.

Also, I am amazed at the cars these people drive. Very conservative and green these days.

Marlon was your boss?? omg how cool!! is he as sweet as he looks? OMG i cant belive that he took MJ in when you were not there!

I can't believe it EITHER!! wAAAAAAAHHHH!!

Actually the company had a booth at a broadcast trade show. Marlon was one of the owners of the station I worked for and he is the COOLEST guy, not a ounce of diva in him. One of the other owners was Evander Holyfield, another amazing MAN. Robert Townsend was our programming director, a diva to those who worked for him but always very kind and nice to me.

Marlon told the booth that he wanted them to "meet his brother". He has a LOT of brothers but no one expected him to drag over MICHAEL!!! My co workers were SHOCKED!!! :scared1: They said he was VERY shy, very quiet and aDORable. Marlon is the exact opposite, he is extremely animated and friendly. There was no doubt that he adored and loved his little brother, though. And he was more than proud of him.

My heart breaks for him now. :sad1:

The guys from BareNaked Ladies. They were at a music festival in Atlanta when I was 18 or 19. I met them at the festival, got my stomach signed (I had no paper) and then ran into them later at a restaurant. My Boyfriend at the time told me I was just drunk, no way it was them. I went over with a napking and asked it they would sign it so I'd have a keepsake, since I had to shower eventually. They all did and one of the guys jokingly said he'd be happy to sign my a** too. They asked about the AtL and I told them I had no clue I was from a little town called (hometown) and they found it amusing (It is) Talked a moment about the festival, how awesome it was, DB had come over and he spoke to them about their music since he was a HUGE fan, actually introduced me to their music. Really great group of guys, very funny and normal. As we walked away, one of the guys said "Bet they're gonna have a good time tonight" since DBF and I were hammered. :rotfl2:Definately have a sense of humor!!!

Dick Vitale (sportscaster) ate at the Turf Club at SSR three times when I was working there. He was a very nice man and very down-to-earth. I was the hostess on duty all three times and got the pleasure of chatting with him on all his visits (I ended up seating him and his family- third time he had one of his daughters, the daughter's spouse, and several grandkids with him). :) And of course, my father was thrilled to hear I'd met one of his favorite people in the sports world!

When I was in highschool, I used to bag and cashier at the only grocery store in town and we would get a lot of plain and boat orders that needed to be boxed early saturday mornings.

I would go into work at 6 am just to do Martha Stewart's, because I was the only person that could put up with her cr@p.

I finally lost my temper with her when she threated to have my bag boy fired because he substituted one brand of real vanilla extract with the store brand of real because we didn't have any of the kind she wanted in stock. I pretty much lost it and gave her a piece of my mine. I have a good ol' Irish temper, and after that, she didn't complain again much. That was my senior year in high school, so I didn't work there when I went to college.

:confused3 I thought Martha has staff to do her shopping?

Also -I work retail , and if any of us give the customer a hard time-we would be immediately escorted off premises......sorry-i think this is an exaggeration.:rolleyes1
